Can't Log Out?

Out here at Explorer's Anchorage, wanted to turn in some exploration data. Landing was normal but noticed the refuel / restock / repair indicators are not lit. Also tried going to the services selection and though I hit "repair all" nothing happens. Cannot turn in exploration or Codex information. Figured it might be a server glitch. Tried to log out and see if that resets things. Cannot get the log-out menu to come up. I'm stuck in the game. Addendum: just landed at the station again, tried to disembark, footsteps, constant footsteps. They never stop. I never get out of the ship. Total black screen. But the footsteps are still there....

Anyone else notice this or should I just force the shut down from task manager?

Ok, one more addendum: Killed process with task manager. Logged back in after giving it a few minutes. I'm on foot in the lobby. Cannot use the elevator back to my hanger because I have no ship selected.

Tried to go to Inter Astra to select my ship and have it put in the hanger. There is no one at the desk! Seriously, no one is at the Inter Astra desk. Something odd is going on, FD.

Well, you are playing Oddity...
I'll be getting my coat

PS. I hope you get it fixed.
I did. :)

  1. Gave it a rest, walked away for a while.
  2. Determined to resolve what in the world the game was doing to me, logged back in, thinking maybe servers had reset by now. Nope.
  3. Actually tried pulling my gun and tried to shoot NPC's thinking maybe getting killed would at least reset my character. Except, I have no gun. Couldn't punch anyone in the face and start a fight, either.
  4. Finally found something I had NEVER, EVER tried before (mainly because I'd never experienced this before): As you log in, choose open, group, or solo, and waaaaaaay over there 👉 on the right is that log-in feature I had never bothered with before: "unstuck." That was the thing. Put me back in my ship about 4k ls outside the station, wandered back in and now everything works.

I still wonder what the heck happened the first time.

I respect your tenacity. :)

You cannot pull out a gun or start a brawl at the concourse.

WHAT???? That's just not right. That guy in the corner cheated me out of . . . well, never mind.

I do remember a video of guys jumping all over the concourse shooting and whooping it up. I don't remember NPC's getting killed or running for their electronic lives. I figured it might be like pulling your sword out in Whiterun and waiting for the guards to grow tired of your showmanship.

I guess that was some kind of hack that isn't supposed to exist. :)

Take a camera view of your character when in the hanger and concourse and you will see that you are unarmed.

I had that happen once. Except I was there to do some ground CZs and the ship let me out properly so I didn't care too much about the ship functions not working. Near as I can tell, even though the ship did dock, it didn't register properly as being at the station. When I got back from the CZ my ship wasn't in the station, it was in some nebulous space somewhere around the planet. Can't quite remember what I did to fix it.

If you have an alt account, meet yourself there and see that the person in the bar you're standing next to isn't the same person depending on who's looking.

Use the stuck recovery option from the main menu to get put back in your ship.

Sounds like the connection dropped before you landed but somehow the servers still managed to record your last location as being in the station on-foot. So the last known location of your ship was undocked. The absent employee at the Inter Astra desk is normal for stations that have no shipyard for transferring ships (I don't know why they didn't shutter the store in that situation instead, it would stop the cries of "BUG!" whenever someone finds the desk unattended).

That was a glitch, if I remember correctly.

I had this happen on my fleet carrier about a week ago. The game froze during the black screen of disembarking. I had to shut down the game through task mgr. When I restarted the game I was on-foot in the concourse of the fleet carrier but could not use the elevator to the hangar. It said something like no ship selected or available. My carrier has no shipyard so I was stuck.

Is the shipyard not accessible to the owner through terminals regardless of whether the module is installed and active for other players?

The carrier terminal allows access to carrier services and redemption office but not shipyard or universal cartographers.

I find not having access to universal cartographers from the carrier terminal strange because I purchased a specific module for this and assigned a person to it.

Okay thank you, it just means the game doesn't hate me specifically. 😏

So just for future reference, log out and log back in using the unstuck thing.

Several months ago I had something similar I had landed at a planetary base to get a new module for my ship I left the base and jumped back to my carrier.
When I landed on the carrier there was strangely no need to refuel which should have warned me but I disembarked and did something else on board then found I couldn’t get to my ship.
Further investigation showed the ship was back at the planetary base where I had swapped modules.

I got back there after somewhat nervously using the escape pod.

It was frustrating but understandable that the carriers terminals only gave access to the carrier management system.
