Engineers Ships Can't modify my gear? Server errors?

So, I was trying to upgrade my FSD with Elvira. I've been taking my ships to her, one at a time to upgrade their drives. However, when I try to put an experimental effect on it, I get a server error. When I try to upgrade it to rank 5, I get a server error.

Now... this particular drive is the one I had on my Dropship when she went far into the deep, so I had previously engineered it to rank 4... but that was three years ago. There were not any experimental effects (that I know of) at that time, and I gather they system has changed since then... so could THAT be causing these errors?

Am I going to have to re-engineer the whole thing from scratch again?

For legacy mods you should get a popup (I think they call them toasties) saying you need to convert it to a current mod. It goes down one level I think but it's been ages.

Ok, there seems to be something going on server side. I can't access the Advanced Maintenance screen either. It seems to open, because I can't interact with any other buttons until I press Alt to close it, but is invisible.

Got it sorted. Apparently, the legacy popup thing only happens in Horizons. Since I was using Odyssey, it wasn't popping up. I logged in using Horizons and was able to modify the gear. Of course, now I need to go looking for more materials, because all my gear has lost a level... but such is life.

Have the exact same Problem with G4 Long Range in Farseer... okay logging in Horizons then

I'm busy converting all my legacy modules because I only use Odyssey these days. They can't be engineered or converted in Odyssey, and if Odyssey and Horizons merge later this year I forsee issues.
