Can't plot a neutron superhighway route

I set out for Colonia today, and having reached (and passed) my bookmarked start of the Neutron Superhighway, I'm not getting any neutron stars in my route unless I select them specifically as my destination, and nothing in between except scoopable stars.
I'm a super nutron booster and I have been this way many times before.
Yes, I have "Use neutron boost" turned on.
Yes, I have checked my star filter: Only TT, brown dwarfs and white dwarfs are filtered out.
There are plenty of neutron stars along the plotted route, but it doesn't want to boost at any of them.
My jump range is 50LY.
Is this a known bug?

50LY is a little low to reliably get neutrons with the ingame plotter. How long are the legs you're trying to plot? Usually selecting every 2nd or every 3rd neutron on a Spansh plotted route works.

50 LYs is quite ok, I traveled tens of kLYs of neutrons with such a Krait mk. II back from Beagle Point and had no problems.

I have no idea, from your experience I'd say a bug entered a system... If there are (as you say) neutron stars along the route, you do have the option for boost assist ticked and the plotter does not use them, I can't see any other explanation.

Usually I don't have any problems, with any jump range. Huh, really strange.

Additional stupid question, are you at a neutron-layer altitude?

Yes, I'm ~1000LY below the plane. I have start & end points om the superhighway bookmarked I've used this route both ways several times.

I'm in my travel conda. Only reason my junp range is so low is I've got a hold full of stuff.
I did this route in a keelback once, no probs.

Followup stupid question: Are you outside of the suppression cross?

EDIT: My assumption is yes, since you reached your bookmarked starting point. But it's worth checking to be sure.

Suppression cross?
Never heard of it. Looking at that image (By "outside", I assume you mean not on the black lines), I'd say "maybe", but I've moved a few 100LYs beyond my "Start of Line", and even plotting a route to the end of the line gets me zero neutrons even though there's plenty about.

I have explored extensively and the built in plotter only occasionally uses neutrons, even if you establish yourself on a Spansh determined route. Obviously the game is building in fuel stops but even so it seems a bit broken. if you have to keep Alt-Tabbing all the time to copy and paste the next Neutron from Spansh then that kind of negates the advantage of using boosted jumps in the first place.

The built in plotter is long overdue some love and an overhaul from FDev, IMHO!

Agreed.
Update:
I've been manually selecting Neutron stars along the way, then re-plotting and re-selecting.
It suddenly started working! I now have a neutron route to Colonia.

I hate White Dwarfs. Encountered a few on a previous BP run when I travelled up the eastern rim. Just couldn't hit the sweet spot without nearly burning up. Fortunately, the extra distance is the same as a premium jumponium FSD boost which lets you get out the system by other means.

The other inconsistency I've found with the plotter is that even though I have Tauri stars de-selected, it will quite often put them in the route, sometimes two in a row. Not a problem if fully fuelled but could catch the unprepared Captain out.

Like I said, Mr Braben and Co. need to give it a bit of love - or we need a mod that would effectively plug our Spansh route direct into the game.

Plus the usual exploration modules, plus limpet controllers in case I decide to join the fuel/rock/repair rats, plus SC assist & advanced cocking computer, plus 140T of rare goods.

It seems to have sorted itself out (for now) 8,700 LY from Sol.
Every other star is a fuel star, which is sub-optimal, but doable.

Yeah, the stock tank on the conda tends to either do Boost-Scoop-Boost-Scoop, or Boost-Boost-Scoop loops depending on availability of neutron stars. Adding just another 8T of fuel (size-3 tank) will add another jump to the sequence and make things go smoother.
