Can't rank up?

I've been running missions between Futhark, Futhorc and Atlantis for like a week now and still no rank up missions from serf to master. Are they just not working? Is the RNG that unfair? Am I missing some bounty or fine I need to pay off? HALP ME PLEASE!

Have you tried running missions (of all types that do Not give you neg rep with the Major faction) for a single minor faction that is in control of a station?

I found this worked for me, especially handing in several completed missions at once.

Ditto, I have been doing mission upon mission upon mission and each time my rep has gone in the red. It seems just lately I cannot do anything right, either that or it's now the PP users that can get the ranks.

P.S and OT. Thumbs up to CMDR Jeezbus (I think the name is right) the only Cmdr in 5 days of OPEN play that can be bothered to reply/say hello.

just do cargo and courier missions for the faction you are trying to rank up in only ( you can check with faction belongs to the major faction by checking your status screen - default key 4)

avoid assassination or kill missions and smuggling

once you have cleared the bulletin board at one station ... moved to the next

the amount of rep needed increases for each rank...

I suppose you could be right on that account, the thing is I have donated more money so far than the whole of Greece needs to bale out and still got nowhere. And done missions for the station commander. Time to swap to my Asp I guess.

And I just look to the right for the status screen...TrackIR5 ftw (that is roughly translated as I'm a lazy so 'n' so).

I did missions for a single minor faction (normally that was in control of the station) and only took missions that wouldn't give neg rep to the major faction (as it is the major faction that gives you the rank missions). I found handing in multiple missions at the same time seemed to help.

Be wary of missions that are effectively illegal (ie assassination of innocents) high rep for minor faction but often neg rep for the major.

Just before i hit friendly with federation, i got the rank warrant officer. Then i hit friendly and not a single rank up since. I gave up after awhile and started trading, bought me an asp and a diamondback scout. The last time i was on i went back to doing missions, about 5 hours so far and nothing, I had about a week doing missions before i started trading with no rank up. So just gonna keep trying i guess, seems bugged to me but maybe just takes awhile. would be nice to see a progression bar that works, so we know atleast it isnt bugged.

Guys the rank system is bugged for some people, is useless to continue doing missions, frontier already know this in theory...

I ranked up with the empire until i got the Clipper which is when I stopped doing missions around six months ago. Since then I had to reluctantly sell my clipper to afford an Anaconda. Now I find I can't buy the clipper any more (with rank Lord). Have I been demoted or has the rank requirement gone up? Also, i haven't seen any rank requirement missions in months even though I am allied with most minor factions most anywhere I spend any time (but haven't done many missions except bounty hunting).

In my stats window, it says i have a couple mil worth of rewards from assassination missions, ive never done one of those missions lol. Is that another bug of some kind? ive done some smuggle ones (ranked up fine too while doing those) when i first started, to get going with money. It says 0 money from smuggling. crazy.... Only been playing for a couple weeks now so still learning ;)

FD admitted that the Ranking up (after doing an ascension mission) was bugged and a fix for this was applied in the last patch.

They have not (as far as I am aware) admitted that there is any bug with the system that throws the ascension mission your way in the first place.

There are several members in this thread all suggesting the same (or at least very similar) methods for getting the ascension missions - to me that suggests a definite pattern may be emerging. It would be worth trying before discounting surely?

That window is odd for me too - I am not currently sure what it is supposed to be showing me or whether it is bugged (or not).

So i kept doing the missions, tried to do most from one station. Today i get on, do a few and bam! I finally get a rank up mission. Yay! Finally got a new rank, Ensign. Then i see another one. I did that one but did not get a new rank. Owell lol, atleast i finally went up one.

I have seen several threads on this problem and i have experienced this same issue... Tuesday and wednesday i spent doing missions for federation subfactions in LHS 142 and LTT 133. I did around 30 of them and the game just doesnt send any naval progression missions my way, still stuck at midshipman. This had better get resolved quickly...

NO - ACTUALLY IT WORKS.

I ranked up until I could get the Clipper many months ago but then I sold my clipper. Two days ago I found I couldn't buy the clipper anymore and that I was ranked Lord. So either I've been demoted or some other criterion allowed me to buy the clipper previously.

Well, anyway, I spent all of yesterday doing courier missions as suggested in the forums (taking all missions between about 4 different systems (where I was already allied btw)) as well as donating money to whoever asked on the bulletin board. So basically taking packages from A to B and finding commodity X to take back to A etc.) After a whole evening doing this I though maybe it is bugged as nothing had happened - but I persevered, and finally this morning after about 50 missions, I finally got my naval ascension mission showing up on the bulletin board. As soon as I completed it I was Baron.

I also noticed that as soon as the trigger is reached, you get a choice of naval ascension missions showing up on all your allied stations. The first one I accepted was to kill 6 civilian ships, but before I had a chance to do it, I saw another mission to simply collect a trade data from a nearby system. I did the latter mission (cruising around looking for WSS) so this was a lot simpler than having to kill civilians and take a hit on my legal status.

I have done plenty assassination missions and I show the money but zero for assassinations. So my assassination money per kill is infinite. :)

I'm the same been stuck at warrant officer for over a month

congrats

just be aware that the amount of missions that you need to do increases as you work your way up the rank system

this may be why so many people have the "bug" complaint.... they simply expect instant results... who knows... it's not a remark aimed at any player

it's also a shame that no "progress bar" has been included in the UI, like the elite ranking ones, in the last patch

I had to do missions for over a week before I got ascention missions for each of the last 3 ranks (the last one took about 3 weeks). It also gets harder each rank.

Just doing missions is not enough as far as I can tell. You need to push your major faction rep up which means not doing anything to give you neg rep. If you do a mission that helps one minor faction but hurts another (allied to the same major facton) then you may not be getting major faction rep.

Doing missions for one minor faction (courier, combat and trading) missions where the destination or target was out of the source system seemed to work best for me. Multiple hand ins also seemed to help.

This can be a long haul goal. Don't expect the ascention mission to show in one session.

Aaand you dont think there is something wrong with that?

A rank progress bar would be incredibly useful and make it much clearer what helps and more importantly what damages your chance of getting your next main faction mission.

I stopped doing any kill missions, pirate hunting and stayed away from res sites. Only did cargo and gift aid missions for factions that supported federation. Then I got my my next rank mission after about three hours play.

Killing NPC even if wanted with association to your main faction seems to really hammer your rank progress.
