So it's been over a year since I've played and I understand the process of scanning a ring to find hotspots.
I'm in system HIP 67120 and am looking for ring A on planet 4 (HIP 67120 4 A)
The in-game system map lists it as a metallic ring:
So I head over to the planet and.....no rings were visible. I went into DSS and despite the planet having been discovered and mapped by other people, I still had to map it. Confusing but ok.
As I'm flying around mapping, I'm suddenly pulled out of hyperspace because I've slammed into the ring. Fine, I pull back, reenter hyperspeed and tag the ring. This is where things went from weird to worse.
First, it only identified B ring, and only half of it as it normally does where from the impact point a wave propagates out in both directions.
No matter how many probes I fired or where I fired them, they either (A) passed through B ring, (B), hit the planet, or (C) just vanished into the dark.
Also, when I'm in DSS view, the ring is very hard to see and has......shadows on it? It's almost as if I can't look directly at the ring but can see it in my peripheral view.
I've made a screen recording of it here which I've posted to YouTube and a screenshot is below:
No idea what's going on. Any guidance is appreciated.
Thanks!
