Cant seem to find any Conflict Zones

When I go to accept mercenary missions for either the Feds or the Erans it tells me to hunt X number of enemy ships in Conflict zones around Dahan and Eranin. Ive flown all around both areas but have yet to find a single Conflict Zone :S.

Anyone care to elaborate why?

(otherwise awesome beta :D)

I have this same exact problem. Before the patch, when I first played the game and was just trying to figure things out, I found a federation beacon or something like that and checked it out. It was a battle with lots of dogfighting around a stranded capital ship.

I've accepted mission after mission of the Dahan vs Eranin thing where it wants you to find those conflict zones, but I've played at least five hours today and not once did I see/find one anywhere.

Is there a game mechanic I'm not aware of, or is there a bug? How are you meant to find these conflict zones?

The points of interest for a particular planet are now only visible when you are at that planet.

I guess discovering them and sharing this information will be the Explorer role's stock in trade. For now, fly to next the planet nearest to Azeban and check your Navigation UI panel :). If you still can't find it, shriek here and I'll say exactly which planet.

You'll find conflict zones just like you find unidentified signals. I've only found 1 conflict zone so far.

I found a couple in Eranin, the way I did it was flying really close to the planet (Eranin 2 for example) and check there, the conflict zone was either on hud or location list.

The only problem I had once was when fighting the Eranin forces I killed 2/3, the 3rd one jumped or got lost before I could kill it. I found another conflict zone but the kill count reset back to 0/3 so I had to kill 3 again. Oh and this was a 1000cr contract and the repairs cost me around 1100cr or so. So yeah, I went to trade goods instead :)

I also found a few conflict zones in Eranin.

My problem is that when I entered a low intensity one it was a very one sided think. 1 side was basically wiped with hte other holding dominance. So I had 2 options.
1, join the stronger faction and try to get the last hit with 3-4 wingman shooting the same target and waiting till the next spawns.

2, join the weak side and prepare for a 4 vs 1 ownage where my chances of survival are virtually none.

None of these options is good in my opinion and need rebalancing.

Great to know. I remembered that when I visited that conflict zone, back when I knew nothing about what I was doing, the icon for it in the Nav panel was exactly the same as a Nav beacon, and you can see a Nav beacon anywhere in the system. This led me to believe you should be able to see a conflict zone anywhere, as well.

Not in my experience. UISs seem to be randomly generated instances just for you when you're cruising around in deep space. I've never seen one pop up while flying around. If the first wstephenson is correct, they're persistent areas like stations, you won't see them just pop up out of nowhere, and they'll always be in the same place.
