Can't start Elite from Epic

Hello, I got Elite Dangerous on the Epic store this christmas. How can I start it?
I read that you need to start it from the Epic launcher, but this doesn't work. First it says "This Frontier Account does not own Elite Dangerous". I can click "log out", then it asks me to open a Frontier account. I did just that, then I linked my Epic account. This didn't help either.

I read somewhere else logging out and back in to Epic Launcher would help, but it didn't.
I unlinked my Epic account and tried to log in again - didn't help.
I logged out of the Epic launcher and tried to log in again with the account unlinked in the Frontier Account - also doesn't work.

Does anyone know what works? I tried to go to customer support, but it only leads to a FAQ with the aforementioned hints.

Link the Frontier account and Epic accounts, wait a few hours then try to log in again. It takes a while for the login system to catch up (which is silly - if you've just bought a game you should be able to play it straight away without waiting....).
 
Hello again, my issue got solved. I can start Elite Dangerous now, but it won't let me start Odyssey. Interestingly I also can't open another ticket, as when I go to the support site and try to log in, it only says (directly after logging in) "You've been sucessfully logged out".
Does anyone know what to do besides deleting cookies and cache?

Drop an email to community@frontier.co.uk and describe your situation. You may get some help that way.
Just bear in mind the community team is going through some restructure at the moment, so there may be a delay in response. In the meantime keep trying to open a ticket.
Let us know in a few days and if you still can't resolve this, I'll ping someone from FDEV.

Out of interest, in what way it "won't let you start Ody"? Is there an error message? Does the game load up, but you can't start it? Give us some more info pls :)
 
i am just guessing here as like what you said does seem like a correct course of action to resolve the ticket issue etc
but maybe inputting incorrect login info like a typo which will be denied access followed by correct info may work if you dont wanna clear cookies etc

no, there is no error message.
When I start the game it says:

The game starts.
I can then Play or select the Version. Odyssey is not displayed.
I also can't walk around or enter a space station on foot.

It gets ever stranger. I can't log in to the Frontier Support anymore. I had to select a new Username in the Frontier Forum (here).. And I wrote an eMail as suggested by @rootsrat to community@frontier.co.uk and didn't hear back yet (since friday) :(

Did you buy Odyssey on Epic? It's a separate DLC. If you don't buy it it won't be available in the launcher. As a consequence, all on-foot gameplay is missing.

thats because you only have the standard edition launcher download as to why that is contact support (picture 2 post 8)

what version is available to you under my downloadable products else check with epic as to why you only have the standard edition launcher
check your payment statement as to what was actually purchased?

alternatively to the above try this start your main game so you are in your starting ship and in station and in the beginners area of space then log off and close the game (not the legacy version)
restart the launcher and use the log out button next to your name then close it
then reinstall your current launcher package again which will hopefully then look like the one above (which should work if you have indeed purchased an odyssey licence addon to the main game or was included in your original purchase bundle)
