Can't stop smuggling

I've been running the Robigo for a while now. I've actually just started getting bored of it. BUT i keep thinking "what if they nerf it"? Then i have to keep going back. I think "had enough of this jump jump jump, avoiding interdictions", but i get millions for it, what if they nerf it? Every time i dock and check the BB theres even MORE money on offer. They are just keeping me hooked. I think "got enough money now, lets do something else" but then i think "2.1 is coming, WHAT IF THEY NERF IT"?
I'm hooked. I'm a Robigo prisoner. An addict. Scared of the NERF bat. They just keep offering millions and millions for carrying a few little slaves a few hundred ly. Its too darn easy.
Help.

Robigo is most likely going to be neneef, that is almost sure.

The key here is to think what do you want to do next and, once you have enough money, go do it. I also took from Robigo a decent amount of cash, but I don't think I'm turning back.

Think of it as that you already took your part and now you need to give space to other folks, so move along commander!!

Those missions are designed to rank up a new player, feed him credits, take him through the ships and help your faction.
For an Elite ranked player they have another purpose.

Now it will get nerfed, the nerf is likely to hit all stations.
That's bad news for the rest of us who play the game via missions and BGS.
Our stations also give us those missions but I fear the nerf cos 'grinders'.

This is what FD will do. Nerf that and buff something else cos you have to have a grind.
So all you grinders, have no fear, there will always be a credit grind somewhere.

I had the same feeling about 17 Draconis the other day so I went there for a couple of hours. I made it as far as Post Captain with normal play but thought what the hell so I charity missioned up to Rear Admiral. Only one rank up but that bored me. Funny thing is I don't want a Corvette (ATM), I can't think of a reason to spend 800mil on one ship when on paper it doesn't look much, if any, better than a Conda.

Anyway I hear you about Robigo, I haven't done any for a while but I decided to do a couple of runs a week after I left Draconis... Just in case

WHAT IF THEY NERF IT

They will, but there have been *several methods of earning easy money that have all been nerfed, and no doubt more methods will come along so don't worry about. Play for fun, and not for profit.

* Letting the capital ship do your killings for you is the earliest one I can remember....that was great while it lasted. Also I remember a seeking luxuries ship sitting just outside a station that sold the luxuries.....big profit in that one.

I suspect FD deliberately put these in-game now and again to give us all a boost...i hope that's the case.

I really at some point should try one of these get rich quick processes, seems RL always scuppers my attempts and the Buzzards of Nerf swoop in before i get a chance!

Back to mining in my T7.....

I pray they don't nerf it.
Once in a now and then, I do a Robigo Run.
It's never boring.
Quite the opposite.
To succeed is not at all certain - the reward makes it feel really good to do.

Would it not be silly to take fun away from the game? :)

500 Million in the bank, still flies a Cobra. Money is nothing.

But if it helps, they may not nerf the reward but simply increase the difficulty setting. They've already stated that shooting police will have much bigger consequences in 2.1. So flying a slow ship with tons of slaves is going be much harder, if you count on your guns to stop the scan. And flying a fast ship with small cargo capacity will put a huge damper on your hourly smuggling income. Bringing it in line with rares trading.

I've got a Vulture parked in Sol, its my bounty hunting machine. Got a Cobra for smuggling. A t6 for mining. I've been doing the smuggling to get a massive pile of credits, then i can just do anything without grinding. Its ok, I'm gonna kick the Robigo habit soon. But its difficult when i know theres 10million credits for 30mins work available.

don't forget selling luxuries to "seeking luxuries" located 20 seconds outside of the station ;)

I made around 300mil from Robigo, then clear saved..graduated to a Cobra and did 2 runs to make 35mil or so to buy a DBS, Courier with a buffer left over (to pay for the many times I've been ganked! :D) and had no intention of doing it again..however, recently I decided to get an A spec FDL, so did a few runs to get the funds - it is great to have this cash-cow when needed!

As far as nerfing is concerned? that seems kind of pointless now, given the amount of time FD have let it continue - with many billionaires on the back of it..not to mention a bit unfair for new players..IMAGINE THE DISGRUNTLEMENT!

The rule should be 'if the Devs think a nerf is necessary for any activity - do it quickly after inception..otherwise, just leave alone!'

Bottom line is, I'm not addicted..'just fall off the wagon once in a while!

Grab it while it's hot...
Anytime they allowed for a ludicrous amount of Credits to be made in literally no time, that issue got addressed eventually.

I got no issues seeing CMDRs making more in 2-3 weeks than I did in almost a whole year back in time - or make one Mission stack in 2-3hrs that earns more than grinding a full week for a CG to reach Top 5%... but I do sense the time of "Easy Credit" is running up.
So for the time being, I'd recommend to run them until your Ship Engines fall apart if that's your thing. After all, in-game Credits don't suffer from Negative Interest rates and it's never bad to have some in reserve ;)

I'm not sure it need a nerf, just a severe upgraded difficulty : More risk more profit
I'd like to see different punishment depending on the commodity you smuggle :
High bounty for weapon, bombs, virus thing (and later on for smuggling hostile troops , terrorist, criminal) with high reward and fine for drugs slavery etc...

I kicked Robigo a while ago.
While the missions are certainly very fun to begin with, the constant jumping was getting annoying.

Currently I'm at HIP 10716 running various surface missions to gain Empire rank, for no reason. Lol I don't want any of their ships. I'm just getting the rank up incase they release one I do want. Lol
That and I really wanted to fly around Achenar 3. Lol

Call 1-555-ROBIGO-AID. They've got a hotline for smuggling addicts :D

They told me to see a shrink.

I'm just gonna do maybe two more runs. Then that will do.
Just two more.
Or maybe three.

I did a weekend of Robigo runs a while ago, made a fortune but with only one motive. I knew it would probably get nerfed at some point and while I had an A-rated FDL and A-rated Python, I wanted a Corvette. I had a decent chunk of bank already, but nothing to retire on. Went out and get enough money to buy and D rate the Corvette and then headed home in it. I was happy, over the next few weeks/months, I gradually did the things I usually like to do and accrued the wedge to upgrade the Corvette to where I wanted it and as a result I have only been back to Robigo once since then. Happy to move on without making a ton of cash as I have almost all the way along my year of play. This is not to say that I think Robigo runs are a bad thing, each to their own, I am just happy plodding along, not in a rush anymore :)
