Can't turn background music off

I keep background music off by default in Audio settings. When I logged in tonight it was playing, so I tried to turn it off - it was still set to muted. So I reset it to muted - and it stayed on, checked again and it was still set to muted. Tried toquit to desktop and restart a few times, each times trying to nudge the settings. No dice.

Any run into this at all? I hate the background music.

Did that. No dice. Also, now the SRV tageting is all messed up. I target a crystal, it think it's my ship. I target my ship, it think's it's a crystal. There might be something more going on, perhaps with my games files. Sigh. reinstall are so much fun.

EDIT: When I found a volcanic vent floating a couple meters off the ground, I logged out and restarted the computer for good measure. Seems to have fixed that, but not the music.

The targeting issues could be a keybinding problem (wouldn't explain the music issue i don't think).

Could try resetting everything to default (in your audio) to attempt to fix the music. you could do this with the keybinds as well but will depend on how many changes you have made (I have made heaps personally and would object to doing this).

Could try verifing the files (depends on what platform your using) perhaps you have a corrupted file somewhere.

All else fails try putting in a support ticket.

Thats me out of ideas, hopefully someone else will have some ideas. Good Luck

Thanks. We're back to just the music - the keybinds were corrupted somehow, so I put in a backup file, fortunately I had not changed anything since then.

Have you clicked on the + next to music volume and tried turning every option off. I am clutching at straws here.

I have played with every setting in audio to try to replicate the issue without success.

even with music off there is a deep spaceial background noise which could be confused for music
there is never complete silence well not that I have noticed...……...

Thanks, guys. You know, it might be the background sound. Last night I had the house to myself for the first time in a year and turned computer volume up (I don’t like headphones). Ill check tonight.

It was the background music. Here's what happened: the night before I had logged off while in orbit, for the first time ever. When I came back on line I was in space near the planet, and that music was playing. I went straight to settings and started trying to figure it out. Had I just hit thrust and sailed on...the music would have gone away. Which it has.
