As the title says, even after changing the file format to jpg or png, it just won't upload them, saying the files are invalid. Even photos I've previously uploaded won't work anymore. Is this just me or anyone else having a problem?

They had to stop embedding images in the forum as it was causing issues. You need to use an external site like imgur.
