General / Off-Topic Captain Marvel - first trailer is up

Some Marvel characters should be left to be forgotten.
Maybe Inf wars will actually clean the pool?

Unlikely. The only Avengers that even survived 'the snap' were the original team I think? So they'll be back .. but how? Unless WE'RE the ones in the dead zone? ;)

Marvel seem to have managed to knit a semblance of sci-fi into pure magic shows. It's proper popcorn - and Shakespeare it most definitely aint (unless you count the Hulk 'refusing' to smash maybe) - but you can't really argue with reactions like this can you ..

Bearing in mind that's a Norse God, a genetically enhanced rabbit and a .. tree arriving together - just think about that a minute lol. If Captain Marvel does half as well, it won't be half bad, fun imo.

IMHO the constant barrage of these Marvel films seems to increase the mediocrity of the genre.
Some Marvel characters should be left to be forgotten.

Not to mention actors like Mark Wahlburg and The Rock with their turd movies every year being self proclaimed super heroes. Same trash different movie go play a doctor or something.

what do you think about this ?

Yeah I just read a piece in VICE that called everyone sexist who thinks Brie Larson looked "bland" in her roll.... Of course it's perfectly okay to call Ben Affleck "bland" as Batman in Justice League. Heck, my CMDR is bland! Maybe Captain Marvel is actually a holome, LOL.

Those sjws always tryna ruin our... Umm.. not sure what those sjws are tryna ruin but I DONT LIKE IT AND WILL COMPLAIN VERY LOUDLY ABOUT THEM

It became very trendy to shoot a film "for women" or "for minorities" etc. and lead the campaign in the style "This is a great film and if you don't like it, you're racist/sexist/whatever applies".
Worked well for Ghost Busters or Ocean's 8, right? :p

In my days, when someone wanted a film to succeed, they just made a good film.

Of all the women actors, this is the best they could find? She looks and sounds more like the girl or mrs. next door. I thought mcu made better casting decisions. Needed someone more like a younger Robin Wright. Initial trailer, so I could be wrong and she turns out better.

Is this part of the MCU?

Yes. She is their get of jail free card. No surprise they've left her out until now and as she is their biggest female SH it explains why Black Widow never got her own film.

Trailer looks good but I fear it may well be another copy paste marvel movie: Action mixed with jokes - Long boring dialog that adds nothing to the plot - More action and jokes - Credits. They are all the same.

Or, more succinctly, 'pre-internet'... I'm so tired of having to defend liking something that other people think I shouldn't like - so now I just don't bother. I like what I like - and if they don't like it, tough... like.?

Conversely, I'm also quite tired of having to defend not liking something for the reasons I've given, rather than having people tell me my ulterior motives.

I'll probably end up seeing this, and coming away from it feeling okay but meh, like I do with every comic book movie my wife makes me go see.

Much like Star Wars, I'm getting a little fatigued with constant Marvel-verse stuff. Last thing of theirs that I genuinely enjoyed without any reservation was Jessica Jones.

As well as being terrible, Oceans' 8 actually really annoyed me for touting the whole role reversal thing.

When Sandra Bullock threatens Richard Armitage with a shiv in public for betraying her to the police, all I could think was;

Imagine if they'd got Clooney to do that to Julia Roberts in one of the previous movies?

Just wait until the Lord of the Flies remake with an all female cast comes out. Fingers crossed that it will be awesome.

It'll be renamed Camp Quicherbichin.

Saw a large wooden nameplate with that carved in it one day at a beach resort shop, the wife kicks herself to this day for not buying it.
Yes, she can laugh at herself; something that seems to be lost these days.

I'd have to agree that basing a film story on role reversal(s) alone is lame, weak and probably unentertaining.
