Review Bombing on RT

"The most recent attack was on Captain Marvel, which received a wave of negative early ratings from people complaining about the "social-justice warrior poitics" of star Brie Larson."

"Three weeks before the release of Captain Marvel, the films Rotten Tomatoes page was carpet-bombed with negative user reviews that drove down the movie’s score on the premier website for deciding which movies are worth seeing."

I want to like these genres more, I just wish they were typically better done; superhero movies aren't so much garbage as they are bland and very homogeneous with repetition. I'd probably go easier on them if they weren't taking over the movie industry with the "Twilight effect," essentially crushing all other ideas until there is no room left in the market or incentive for creativity. I grew up on sci-fi, both in the movies and in literature, and it pains me to see how it's so often treated in Hollywood. I was honestly stunned that Bladerunner turned out as good as it did, and am now hopeful that the new Dune will turn out to be something special.

love to see every single comic book hero movie run through said hero's origin story and some faffing around doubting their abilities before they turn it around and handily defeat their main comic book archnemesis and leave the b-listers for the sequels
especially love seeing the ones that get rebooted so we end up with three or four origin story movies
while we're at it, let's have another go at the fantastic four - okay they're a fairly generic hero team, who's their villain? Oh, doctor doom? Well we'd better make him deadly serious and dark because comic books are serious business, and not, yanno...

Basically what I'm saying is that something like Raul Julia's portrayal of M Bison is the only correct way to play DOOM.

That verge article links directly to Rotten Tomatoes, where Rotten Tomatoes says it's not a review score, it's a "want to see" score (https://editorial.rottentomatoes.com/article/making-some-changes/).

They say people often get it confused with the "audience score" which is a review score, they claim people confusing it is why they're removing it :

"As of February 25, we will no longer show the ‘Want to See’ percentage score for a movie during its pre-release period. Why you might ask? We’ve found that the ‘Want to See’ percentage score is often times confused with the ‘Audience Score’ percentage number. (The ‘Audience Score’ percentage, for those who haven’t been following, is the percentage of all users who have rated the movie or TV show positively – that is, given it a star rating of 3.5 or higher – and is only shown once the movie or TV show is released.)"

Its still review bombing. Have a look at the articles for comedy examples of why some people shouldn't be allowed opinions.

Yes.

Those are examples of the sort of agenda-driven nonsense that you're repeating.

There is not, and never has been, a facility to allow people to REVIEW a movie prior to it's release on RT.
That being the case, any claim that malicious or prejudiced reviews were posted there MUST be nonsense.

What WAS on the site, and was removed, was a feature that allowed people to indicate whether or not they were interested in seeing a movie or not.

It says a lot about the quality of the source when they're claiming that "It's also well-documented how GamerGate paved the way for Donald Trump's election victory".

If you're looking for an "agenda", maybe start with websites trying to tell you that Gamergate got Donald Trump elected, eh?

Except for all the cited example crazy posts they had to remove obviously.

Stigbob, you're really going way afield in order to avoid conceding his correct point. My advice would be to come up with a way to disagree that was still wrong but had the advantage of allowing you to maintain some credibility.

Match goes to Stealthie.

We live in the excruciatingly politicized era of the Metoo movement, and a consequence of this is that it's not enough to show a strong female character (we've had those for years), but men need to be given their comeuppance as well. Time for some payback fellas.

Oh I love that, I also love wearing a red cap in a Starbucks, it’s awesome and very funny to see, bring it on!

Lol, credibility with people posting the same sort of cobblers that got purged from RT, or attempting to redefine the term review bombing in the latest attempt to shift it to a fresh conspiracy ?.

You can keep it.
