Capybara can't traverse water

So,
I started a new zoo and wanted to give the capybara a first try. Thing is: They can't traverse the water area. I used the tool for the shallow water pools, and without water, they can walk around there just fine. As soon as water is added: Nope. And I can't figure out why that is. Maybe a bug? Or did I do something wrong?

Hard to tell from just the white picture, is there a gentle slope into the water? Steep rocks or steep terrain stops animals from entering water while working perfectly for ground traverse.

I tried to make it as smooth as possible. It's kind of hard to get a good picture. They recognize that it's water, because they go and have a drink. But they won't go in.

If they have a drink the edges of the water are fine, I would look at any objects blocking the capybara from entering. Some nature and construction pieces can have large hit-boxes which prevent animals from moving into that area.

I deleted everything around the pool. Still not traversable. The blue zone stops right at the water. I don't get it.

Hmm that's weird, I would say that's definitely a bug then. Although not the advice you want to hear but sometimes starting over by deleting the habitat entirely works. If the game doesn't want to cooperate, I would add water first, animals next and work with the traverse map to see how the animals react to the added scenery.

So I tried to redo the barriers. Didn't help. I think I know whats going on. When I put the capys in a new habitat with water, everything works fine, so it has to be a problem with that specific habitat. But in that habitat, no matter how the water body looks like, it doesn't work. Before I put the capys in there, I had some tortoises in there. I have the feeling that maybe, the path finding of these tortoises is still active in this particular habitat. But no matter how much I change it, it doesn't fix it. That's sad, it's an indoor habitat and doing everything from scratch would mean to start the whole zoo all over again. :c But thanks anyway!

Not directly helping with your issue but it's interesting to see the theory that the previous species pathing is somehow still active. I had a similar situation a long ways ago - over a year - I switched out the Komodo Dragons and Meerkats from their initial habitat, due to habitat size issues. What was frustrating yet interesting is it took some time for the animals to "recognize" their new habitats, for lack of a better word. They wouldn't play with their species appropriate enrichment, wouldn't eat the right food. The space the meerkats should have been able to go through, they couldn't. Komodos were showing they could go into much smaller spaces than they would be able to (they never did, just showed it as traversable). I ended having the animals in both habitats starve and starting from scratch with both species, and it worked out. I also tried putting a komodo in storage and quarantine with no luck.

Only time I've ever had that issue, and one of the very few times I've switched out animals for a habitat. Sounds like it's possible there may be an underlying issue, or we just got unlucky. I'm sure other people have been able to move animals around with no issues.

Did you already try if emptying and refilling the Water Area will help? Maybe it's similar to the Problem where Animals don't recognize climbable Stuff
