Carcosa: The End of the Beginning

"They paint the world full of shadows, and then tell their children to stay close to the light. Their light. Their reasons. Their judgements. Because in the darkness, there be dragons. But it isn't true. We can prove it isn't true. In the dark there is discovery. There is possibility, there is freedom in the dark once someone has illuminated it. And who has been so close to doing it as we are right now?" - Captain James Flint, Black Sails

The toughest part of anything is always the beginning.

When Loren's Legion was first commissioned in 3301, its mission was simple enough - protect Prism and serve as a bulwark against the forces of Archon Delaine. We were small, perhaps more than a little naive and inexperienced.

Two years later, we found ourselves at the heart of a conspiracy that spanned the entire galaxy. Our leader, Kahina Loren, became embroiled in an assassination plot against Admiral Patreus. Wrongly accused and convicted, she was sentenced to die in an Imperial prison in the Daibo system - but was freed.

We rallied to her side, rendering aid and comfort to a woman whose only crime was the knowledge of the aforementioned conspiracy. Because of her courage and her convictions, the truth about the Dynasty missions and the mysterious Club was revealed - but at the cost of her life.

Her last words to us were to always remember.

We have done so. And more.

As of September 27th, Loren's Reapers and their Nameless allies secured victory over the proxies of the corrupt Colonial Legionnaires, and in the process laid claim to the final orbital asset in Carcosa. It marks the end of a long, grueling campaign to fortify the system for the road ahead.

Although the Reapers are viewed as the custodians of this system, it is through the continued support of independent commanders and similarly aligned groups that has allowed it to remain free and in the care of the Nameless.

In keeping with Lady Loren's final wishes, it is from Carcosa we will help to build Colonia into a region of space that anyone can call home - no matter where they hail from. No matter what you believe about Lady Loren, her ideals appealed to a higher ideal, our better angels.

Carcosa calls to everyone who is looking for a better way. A way that doesn't demand we take the coin of corrupt monarchies, supermassive corporations, or malevolent bureaucrats. A way that allows us the freedom to explore, to trade, to associate freely, without fear of reprisal from a central authority whose power is limited only by the range of their beam lasers.

Out here on the shores of a vast and unexplored galaxy, we make our home. We welcome all who would make their home here too. There will be those who decry us as troublemakers, but their attempts to disrupt and defame us is simply the passing away of the status quo. In time, we hope that our words will be proven by our deeds, and our enemies will eventually become our friends as well.

To those of you reading these words and feel them resonate, I ask you to search your heart. Decide for yourself. Do you wish to continue the endless grind for credits? Or do you long for something more?

The toughest part of anything is always the beginning. Coming here to stay means forsaking the creature comforts of the Bubble. It requires a sacrifice. But I promise you, it is worth it. Join us. Make your mark on the only true bastion of independence in the galaxy, free from the machinations of the superpowers.

Carcosa is waiting!

Hi. I would like to present my personal galaxy map to prove that ruling out existence of dragons is not something all commanders agree upon, how ever noble cause.

Hm, seems the plan of the Gankers to take over Colonia and hug the precious Engineers there is slowly coming together.

Not a Colonia Citizen since quite a while anymore, but I have to say : Colonia has definitely failed to defend itself. Miserably. Now they face the consequences.

Congrats on the successful PsyOps and PR, in terms of good ol' BGS warfare very well-done. Credit where Credit is due :)

I disagree with the sentiment that we're gankers, That word gets thrown around a lot on this forum and if you actually interacted with us, you'd know we're anything but gankers.

As far as the slavery bit goes, it's on the list. Unfortunately we're gonna need some help from the devs. But you'll be happy to know that void opals and other precious minerals fetch a far greater profit than slaves ever could in our part of the galaxy, so there's that.

I can confirm that. Since I came to Carcosa, I ganked only 1 unfortunate soul that had a KWS.
Since then all I hear is: "he's a friend", "no, not him, he's ok", "they're helping us", "you can gank them, but only if you see them in Carcosa" etc. etc.

@Phisto Sobanii Please. Stop. Making. Friends.

Unless we count that unfortunate accident with Colonial Legionnaires as ganking, that was epic, gief moar! But I'm not sure if that can be called ganking, since they wanted to attack us first.

That’s cool, mate. I’ll tell you one thing: you have certainly won the Public Relations war. I haven’t heard a peep out of your enemies. I don’t even know who they are. :p

Ya’ll should do something about the “we facilitate chattel slavery” thing though. It sort of hurts the “freedom” bits.

There are no slaves to buy in Colonia. While such a vile practice is not theoretically regulated in Carcosa, the point is moot.

Carcosa is the home system of the Nameless. Pennsylvania is the home system of the No Look Here Gang. If anything, we've kicked out the invaders.

:ROFLMAO:

No slaves to buy, sure. But it sure is a prime importer.

@Isaiah Evanson here’s a fun idea: You could propose a Community Goal to FDev to remove slavery from the Nameless faction’s commodities list.

You could roleplay it as a coup within the ranks of the Nameless, or a takeover by Loren’s Reapers. Or just a simple change in policy by the syndicate’s leadership.

Combat CG to keep it spicy. One faction represents the leadership change. The other faction are the hardliner holdouts.

Not sure how it would work mechanically, to keep anarchy state, but it sounds more fun than the usual my-faction-wants-a-pointless-space-station-built CGs that most players propose.

Wow, that's a bit better worded then "come to Carcosa, we got cookies" (y)

We have a fantastic PR campaign, granted, and we even sometimes "gank" - depending on your interpretion of the term - but we're not "the Gankers", we're
passionate Elite fans and really love to fly spaceships. You won't find many people at Colonia who are really angry at us.
We do what we do in open - both literally and in the game mode - and we have fun with that.
I can only say come here, fly with us or against us, and judge us from that experience. Nothing more, nothing less :)

Yeah, that's a problem 😂

Any Tourist Beacons?
Might bring the Beluga over with some tourists.
Three in jumprange to Carcosa (at Jaques/Colonia), with plenty of good missions from Robardin to there (bring a frame shift wake scanner).

I don't need a CG. Just a brain. Watch.

Slavers, while horrible, are business people. What business person travels 22,000 light years to sell their product when there are plenty of markets closer to home?

You're making up a problem.

That’s not very nice, Phisto. We both know that there are multiple ways to source slaves in the Colonia region that do not involve commodities markets. Not in large quantities of course, but that’s not the point.

And the Nameless will happily buy them because... freedom?

The hyperbole is strong with this one.

What Commanders are sourcing slaves in Colonia? Let us know, with evidence, and we'll consider going after them directly.

Unless you're just trying to score cheap shots, in which case, I don't care to be nice.
