Carcosa: The End of the Beginning

The hyperbole is strong with this one.

Haha, I'm just laughing at the replies and the typical defensive "we're super nice guys and just occasionally blow others up and have no plans for Colonia at all" stance , keep 'em coming :D

Instead of attacking Isaiah's post directly the best you can manage are memes.

That suggests we're right on the money.

Besides, I'll tell you our plans. Out of character: having fun playing the game. In character: prepare the Nebula for the future as a center of independent resistance. Big part of that is quality shipyards, outfitting, and engineering.

It's not that we're nice guys, it's that we're nice guys you can't easily beat.

What Commanders are sourcing slaves in Colonia? Let us know, with evidence, and we'll consider going after them directly.

Unless you're just trying to score cheap shots, in which case, I don't care to be nice.

???

Hrmm. I think I have miscommunicated. Text isn’t the best medium sometimes. So: I like the spice you lot bring to Colonia and I like what you’re doing with engineers, etc.

Heck, I wish this drama were on Xbox. I left Colonia a few months ago because it was boring as hell on that platform and all my friends are in the Bubble.

The point is just that the Nameless faction’s slavery thing jars with the “resistance/outlaw” shtick. Isaiah acknowledged it and pointed out that it’s on the LR “to do” list but needs FDev’s help, so I suggested a fun way to go about it. Just smalltalk.

That’s all. If you just wanna play general baddies though, that’s cool too. Own it, man.

Yay! Jayne GIF!

It seems I misunderstood your tone. Apologies!

It did lead me to some interesting thoughts about the difference between anarchy and the state. What's the bigger issue, the fact you can sell slaves at Carcosa or that Commanders would want to? The state addresses only the first. Anarchists would address the latter and I very much trust we could make it happen.

What is so bad about being a slave? Been one more than three decades myself. It is about honour. The empire treats them slaves well...so...there must be a place I can sell my enslaved fellows...it is a matter of honour...(did I say that?)

Too much independence up here....

Lately I have been wondering if you have spots for crazy people out to develop the region by ensuring that the basic needs of the general population are satisfied (shelter, food, water, medicines) and that production of said goods runs smoothly... oh, and whether you would mind a federal background. I still think the Winters motto "Do what is right, not what is easy" is a very good one.

Well, I suppose lack of Thargoid activity in the region does make slavery somewhat redundant. You know, collecting canned slaves and giving them for aliens, they really love 'em, like kittens they are. I believe the Janus Corporation was involved in something similar when I was based in the Pleiades Region, they were really shady about their business though. Then of course there are people who believe they'll turn into beautiful flowerships themselves, but they also had personal hygiene issues.

Another natural use for slavery would be making frequent sacrifices to neutron stars, because transmuting live souls into gamma-radiation keeps up the liminal gates between the witchspace network and the fabric of our reality. Thankfully presence of the World of Death and large amounts of explorers in the region means this issue is being solved.

All I can say is that I haven't blown up anyone in Colonia, and have no plans in any shape or form. That's not me being defensive, that is me telling you you are full of it. Your "I am not even in Colonia but let me tell you all about it!" is as dumb as those " I never play in Open but let me tell you what it is like!" people.

My CMDR is still a noob in Colonia but she never met a murder hobo. She met a pirate the other day, but he was not interested in her 720t of biowaste.
She blew up a couple of trouble makers after they shot at her first, but usually you can find her inquiring CMDRs new to the region or passer-throu explorers. Lately she even runs escort for a DW2 participant who just wanted to do something else after months of exploring.
She feels so safe that she is being seen in open with some of the most questionable ship builds in the nebula. They would be front and center in YT videos about how not to build a ship for open with a beautiful Michael Bay moment at the end.

-------
Reading about the adventures of other CMDRs in Colonia and also following Ian Doncasters amazing work made me want to visit and experience Colonia for myself. After arriving in Colonia and unintentionally jumping right into the thick of it and soon after becoming part of the stories unfolding I knew that I made the right choice. My main CMDR is now dormant and only woken up for special occasions, like the thargoid bubble head.
A big Thank You to everyone

To anybody on the fence, come on out to Colonia and experience it for yourself. There is always the sidey-express if it's not for you, but I can bet you will be not disappointed.

I hope you don't refer to me as the pirate in your post, when I was supercruising in Colonia meeting your Cutter. I can assure you my FdL had no cargo rack 😜
