Cardiff Alternative Launch Party

Hi Guys,

I'll be organising an alternative Cardiff launch party. I organise many events in Cardiff, so I already have an ideal venue picked out. It has a bar, serves food and has a private function room which will allow us to celebrate and even play the game (if you bring yor laptopn). It also has WiFi, a large plasma TV and a projector screen.

If you wish to come to the Cardiff event then please add your name to the wiki page.

Reasonably priced hotels within 15 minutes walk of the venue, and close to rail/bus links for those who'll be travelling: IBIS, Sleeperz and Maldron

Like the sound of the venue if we can have a drink and play the game you couldn't ask for much for.

Cardiff is a little closer than Cambridge I suppose.

You guys are going to have to stagger the days of these parties so I can do a tour of all of them! :p

Glad to have you guys on board! Please remember to add your names to the wiki to get in the queue as there will be a limit to the number of people in the function room; especially if you want to book space to play the game live.

I've edited the original post to include my knowledge of suitable hotels. Obviously they're not much use at the moment because there is no date set. But they're ready for people when they want them.

The good news is that the Cardiff launch party will most likely be free to attend, as long as we get enough people. Attendees will only need to pay for is their beer and food (and hotel if they're staying in one, obviously).

I've added my name to the Cardiff and Nottingham parties - my preference would actually be Cardiff (cos I love Wales), but since I live near Nottingham it made more sense to add that as my preference. Truly, though, I'm happy to go to any. Even Manchester.

Obviously I'd be happy to have either a stall or a game session of Elite Encounters running at whichever party I go to.

Where IS this mysterious Cardiff location?

The Nottingham and Manchester parties are there to see who is interested; I don't think there is anyone actively seeking to make them happy.

However, the Cardiff event is being actively organised by myself and is pretty much a certainty.

Where in Cardiff will it be? Feel free to pm me that information if it's sensitive. I just want to plan where to stay, although to be honest I'll probably plan to stay at the Premier Inn in Barry Island because I love it there.

It'll be in the centre of Cardiff, within 10 minutes walk of rail and bus. I can't announce the venue yet because it's not booked. And it can't be booked until we know the exact date of game launch ;)

There are plenty of cheaper hotels around in Cardiff now; you may find Barry Island quite expensive by taxi. Unless you were quitting the party early to get the last train? ;)

I wouldn't be drinking so I'd probably drive. Not drinking isn't a life choice or anything it's just that drinking bevvies makes me tired and the last thing I'd want to do is be falling asleep in the middle of the thing...

I would like to do it the same date as the official party because I've asked FD if it would be possible to live stream video from the official party.

They said it was an interesting idea, but they're busy making a game so we'll have to wait until closer to the time I guess.

So, no promises, we'll see what happens.
