Caretakers *Still* Broken?

I just started a new zoo, the Caretakers are still busted from the Beta? I just made a Tapir enclosure, the Caretaker goes in to clean up feces and the like, but refuses to fill the food dish. I'm extremely disappointed here. Same bug of going into the enclosure, stopping, then just cancelling my order and leaving. I've tried moving the dish, deleting and replacing it, nothing works. After having so many bugs in the beta that I could barely get a working zoo off the ground I'm sorely disappointed to see that we're still experiencing the same issues.

I've posted images showing the easy access location of the food and Keeper Hut, to show there can't be any real pathing issues here. I don't know what to do.

Frontier stated it that way (like on the launch live stream) or here:

  • Keepers will work out how much food they need to prepare for a habitat based on how many animals are in the habitat. They will then prioritise filling enrichment feeders before standard feeders. This can mean that if all of the prepared food is placed in enrichment feeders, the standard feeders won't be filled!

So an empty food bowl doesn't mean the keepers are broken. Reason for that (according to the stream): They don't want fat animals who are eating all the time ;)

thats definitly not how it is working. at least it wasnt in the beta. but can confirm that there are still problems with the keepers
We don't play the Beta anymore.

Good to know, thanks!

Food not eaten will rot (and make animals sick, if finally touched. I guess).
Not filling up the trays is probably for the better, if the animals aren't hungry.

So they're supposed to walk into the enclosure and then walk out again without refilling the feeders?

Yes.
First of all, if there is need for food, they will first go to the keeper hut in order to prepare food. They don't bring food with them all the time.
If the animals are not hungry, they will leave as well.

However, if the animals are hungry, the trays are empty (including the food enrichment items!) and the keeper is not heading towards the keeper hut ... then it's a bug!
But remember, the keepers need to be rested in order to work. If there are too few staff buildings for all keepers or they are too far away, issues might arise.

Obviously, animals not eating/drinking despite provided food would be a bug as well.

Ahhhhhh ok, thank you for helping me understand!

Basically its exactly how it was in beta which confused everyone and I kept explaining over and over again. Why they left it this way boggles my mind. It doesn't even make sense that we have no control over how much food we give the animals.
