Cargo Fighters

Now, stay with me on this, but is it possible to use a cargo ship for combat? I was just thinking about taking type 9 or something. Sticking a bunch of armor on it, some turrets and wrecking face. Is this viable?(Aside from the fact death would be reaaaaaally expensive.)

I guess the main problem is you'd never get to finish anyone off. And an Anaconda with a plasma accelerator would still shred you

I expect that once we receive the Wingman update, allowing better use of multiplayer attack sorties, some people may use traditional cargo vessels as big floating barges full of guns while having smaller or faster vessels to finish off ships that might otherwise jump out of there.

A Q ship idea huh...if you only want to play with NPC then yes they can`t fly for crap, have some shield cells in the belly and go with gimbled guns not turreted and you can own NPC ships all day long...in open...nope an average human pilot will happily tear any transport apart and the turreted versions of the weapons in game aren`t strong enough to be a deterrent...in my Cobra MKIII the only weapon i am remotely cautious around is a lvl 4 plasma accelerator and thats because its currently borked and has a chance of blowing your shields down without actually coming close to hitting you.

Or they just use the ships that are intended for this, like the Fed Dropship, Python, Anaconda.

The Type 7 is basically unarmed for its size with 4 small hardpoints, and the type 9 is more expensive than the first two while also having less firepower
