As the title suggests, what is cargo insurance (Right hand HUD above ship insurance). There's a few threads in the forums but it's mainly speculation and spite from before the release. From what I've seen (and it's not much) there's no way to activate this. But can I insure my cargo? Is this just telling me my cargo isn't insured? Are certain missions insured? OR placeholder?

I just made a stupid mistake answering a phone call apparently after I had pressed launch. And just about after 5 min come back to see my Asp full of stuff getting shot by station. 
Had plenty of money so I get my old load out back and to my surprise my cargo hold still had the same stuff as before exploding. So is this implemented or not, or was this just a lucky bug?

Terrible idea tbh, at least with the current mechanics it makes more sense to take a loss and dump some cargo rather than lose the lot if you get pirated, when it's insured there'll be no reason whatsovever to do this, I can just lose the ship and cargo then get back pretty much the whole lot back.
You would lose some money of course.
