Cargo Insurance

I've tried searching for the answer to this, but with no joy.
I noticed in the right-hand screen - cargo details, there is an entry for Cargo Insurance.
Can anyone tell me how I take out this insurance.
Thanks.

For better or worse (all depends on your viewpoint), Cargo Insurance would pretty much kill "honorable" (lol) pirating as we know it.

With insurance, it's far better to ignore the pirate and self-destruct/get blown up, as you'll be potentially better off than giving 'x' tonnes away.

If FD do implement it, I'll be interested to see the caveats and game-play differences.

That's an interesting point! Perhaps the insurance would pay out differently depending on type of death.

Interesting point! some thought there for FDevs

Or if the insurance only pays back a certain amount, enough to be able to get back on your feet trading. Many times have I only just managed to afford the buy back after being victim to space piracy

Some commanders have trouble understanding ship insurance, I am sure FD are in no rush to implement another insurance layer.

Giving "x" tonnes (under certain circumstances) could also be valid for insurance payout? Why not?

I discussed it many times and I thing that cargo insurance is the missing piece in the game, as open is almost out of traders (and miners)...
With the insurance in place I would gladly come back to open.
