Cargo lost/disappeared, don't know how

Hi,

earlier today I had 30 pieces of cargo, collected for engineers. Now I'm checking again and find only 7. I have no idea where the rest might have gone. I did spend some time in a CZ, but my shields never went down. I had a few malfunctions due to overheating, but did not pay any attention to those.
Is it possible that cargo is lost due to malfunctions due to overheating? Or any other "magic" way?

Overheating damages modules. Once your cargo rack is below 80% it will occasionally malfunction, dropping some cargo every time it happens.

In a python if you heat up to 150% than you lose Cargo. (Cargo hatch break or something Close to always happens at 150% so make sure you never get to that lvl and yes that is harder than the whole fight in the conflict Zone.)

You should also have seen the cargo fly away from you on the radar (multiple times, if you managed to lose 23 pieces of cargo), but if it was a typical CZ firefight with heatsinks, missiles etc also flying about all over the place, not to mention clouds of mats from your destroyed ships, and it perhaps isn't too surprising if you didn't notice.

Thanks for all your replies. Hard not to get distracted in a CZ. Must have been that, 150% heat. Module damage was not so bad - that's why I don't care much about dropping a heat sink with a shield cell. Losing a few % on some modules doesn't bother me. Losing cargo bothers me. So will take more care in the future.

This just happened to me after i brought some kamita cigars. i had 32 pieces of various cargo ready for an engineer visit, now they have vanished without a trace

I've lost cargo when doing those missions where you have to go and fetch it. On the way back, you get interdicted by an elite Anacondas or whatever. I don't know how they do it, but after a battle against your Cutter, where your shields never lose more than a ring, they somehow evaporate some of the cargo, which means that you have to go all the way back to get some more. Of course, you don't know it's gone until you try and cash in the mission, so that wastes even more time.
