Powerplay Cargo running vs Pew Pew??

Hi, so I've played the game now almost six months but only now aligned to a Power (Li whatever for his packhounds!!... because I'm an unskilled pilots so need hundreds of missiles ;) ) but last night I spent a couple of hours to only earn 50 merits (delivering 10 control cargo 5 times, buying one reload at 100k CR) so wondering how I can gain merits quicker.

I remember vaguely something about 30 merits per undermining kill but I've no idea where or how to do this? I'm currently in Lembava, Li's HQ; if that helps your pointers at all??

Thanks

30 merits for a kill?

That means you only need 334 kills to reach 10000 merits and thus reach rank 5 from rank 4. Then you only need to kill 167 every week to maintain rank 5 and thus collect 50 million credits every week.

Me too would like to know how to gain these kills.

I thought that was the reward per undermine kill??

Is there anywhere in game (or out of which is up-to-date for 2.2) that says how much merits you get for kill in your own controlled systems, kills in enemy systems, undermining kills... etc. ? I remember this being the reason I avoided Powerplay when I first started, just seems like a complete time sink with little structure to what I'm actually supposed to be doing for the Power.

"You earn get 30 Powerplay bonds for destroying enemy Power NPC ships in their control systems or systems they are trying to expand to." - is this no true?

That is true, but it takes time, A LOT OF TIME!
Only way to gwin the merrits faster is to take a good trade ship and buy the merrits. But this costs money, A LOT OF MONEY. more than you will earn from powerplay.

So the only choice is, what do you have more? Time or Money?

If you wanna go deeper into the aspect of powerplay, the choice between those 2 depends on what the power needs. Don't forget, that undermining enemy systems is an attack and doing it just random will cause a lot of hate and fury around the powerplay groups :D
Or frustration if they tryed to scrap systems and you fortified them all instead [haha]

If all you want from PowerPlay is money, I'd suggest different activities. If you stack massacre missions in distant places, you can make ~200 million credits for 106 and fewer kills. That's far less effort and far more money than you can get from PowerPlay, and on top of that it's far less stressful.

Honestly, if your motivation for PowerPlay is the payout (be it credits or items), you'll end up hating it and as a likely result the entire game as well.

I've made my dozens of millions already from trading and exploring, I'm now wanting to get into combat, I prefer missiles but not only 18 per seeker rack so want packhounds. All I want from PowerPlay is rank 4 with Li :D

1) At rank 1 your powerplay commodity allotment is very low (10t per 30 minutes or so). The amount of allotet comoditys will raise with your rank. So waiting for the cargo hold to fill with commoditiys will get a bit easyer later.

2) Also you transfer half of your earned merits into next round each week. So climbing ranks or keeping a rank is not that hard work.

3) Combat merits:
Undermining: To do this you go to the control-system of another power (look at the powerplay map) and shoot your targets there. They will have special names on them like: "Private Securitys" for Torval, "Imperial Support" for Patreus und Arissa, "Alliance Diplomats" for Mahon. You will want to equip a FSD-interdictor becouse you will have to pull your targets out of supercruise.
Attention: you will get wanted by shooting clean targets, regardless if they are powerplay tagged or not!

Opposing or aiding weaponized expansions:
You can always earn merits to go into another powers weaponized expansion and oppose or support it. Only powers that have military expansion ethos have those powerply combat zones. They are: Arissa Lavigny-Duval, Denton Patreus, Zachary Hudson, Yuri Grom and Archon Delaine.
To aid or oppose such a weaponized expansion you have to look on the powerplay map first. Go into the view for one of the military powers named above. Check the box for expansions and find the expansion you want to aid or oppose on the map.
Go to the system and look for a combat zone with an odd name like: "Resistant Pockets", "Military Strike Zone",

I am not 100% sure anymore if it is possible to chose a side on the side-tab. But when I remember right you can just chose a side by shooting the right ships. You should get merits. EDIT: maybe this got changed with 2.2.03 patch. Maybe you only get Merits for enemy powerplay ships in theire "home-territorry"... you have to try out

Mind that you have to deliver your combat merits to a control-system of your power. You can turn them in in the contacts menu of any station in a friendly control-system. Only if you have turned them in they count. If you are destroyed with mertis on board they are lost.

ADVICE: consult your power-play reddit group or discord for priority targets, longterm strategies, wing-requests and general advice.

Do your powerplay combat in wings. It's more fun and all pilots who scored a hit against a target (tagged it) get full merits.

read some powerplay guides:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/328362-Powerplay-Guids

And again: powerplay only gets fun if you play it with others. wing up for undermining or weaponized expansions and oppostion thereof. play in open. meet pilots from all powers at hot spots like expansions, head-quarters or important control-systems where they turn in merits. Engage them, talk to them, give them a fight. Have fun.
