I got my first kill in my sidewinder lol System Force Dropship who had his engines disabled and weapons offline got some materials off him whatever that means so I FSD to next conflict zone and two hits took out my shields so I tried to escape but FSD wouldn't work it said cargo scoop deployed but it wasn't, this has happened twice now. Does that happened alot?

Make sure your powerplant has enough juice to power your cargo scoop, otherwise it won't toggle.
I usually have my cargo scoop last on my power priority list, but I feel like an idiot every time it won't work and I wonder why it doesn't work....

You can FSD in combat, but a heavy ship might mass lock you. Just like a station or a celestial body can mass lock you.
This is clearly communicated though.
You specifically said you got the message "cargo scoop deployed".
If it wasn't and you are sure about that, then it sounds like a bug.
I have never encountered this bug though in almost 2000 hours of playing the game and I never saw it mentioned on the forums.
Perhaps you could try to reproduce when out of combat.
You might then check with the external cam whether the scoop is actually deployed.
The materials you picked up can be used to upgrade your ship at the engineers.
You do need the Horizons expansion to access these engineers as the known ones live down on planets..

Hi, I had the same thing and found other toggle buttons stopped working (even the pre-flight check toggle). I restarted and it fixed itself. Try that.
