Horizons Cargo Stash?

So im thinking... This game is supposed to be a persistent universe right?

If so.. Then if you were to say land your ship full of engineer materials, commodities, and such on a planet or moon. Or even go to some particular point in space and jettison your cargo...

Should it not remain there untill you or someone else who happens to stumble up it picks it up?

Maybe im wrong but its an idea. Im not sure if you can create bookmarks for particular coordinates on a planet or point in space unless there is a station or something there to bookmark. Otherwise you would never be able to find your stash. I dont know..

Thoughts?

If every object ever dropped by every player were to be added to the BGS then I would expect that well trafficked areas would be mind-numbingly slow.

Previously there was no limit to the number of cargo canisters in the instance - this lead to players slowing the game to a crawl by dropping Type-9 loads of cargo near stations. Then Frontier introduced a 20 canister limit (with the oldest exploding as the 21st canister was dropped). This was relaxed slightly by the increase to 100 canisters in open space (i.e. away from stations, outposts, etc.).

Frontier also do not want to introduce any form of cargo storage (except for the expected ability to deposit Engineer related commodities at Engineer bases).

I was at one of those drops - 800 cannisters of gold (and some random biowaste) during one of the Beta phases pre-release. White out on the screen from so many cargo pods obscuring the station. Good times :D

Oh - and the response times weren't good!
