Cargo storage at stations

It seems strange that you can store ships (for free!) at stations, but you can't put cargo into storage at all, not even for a fee.

It likewise seems strange that you cannot transfer cargo between two ships that you own at the same station -- or, if you can, I haven't been able to figure out how to do so.

Cargo storage and transfer seems like it is a pretty basic capability for a space trading station.

It would be fine for the station to charge a fee to store cargo -- something on the order of 10CR per ton per day would be fine.

Yes, when I have something valuable in my hold, and see a mission with a good payout that will take me into combat, I would so like to leave the cargo at the station while I run the mission, I too don't understand why that is not possible.

The discussion was already in the past and there was a statement that cargo storages are not in the game because of exploitation possibilities.
I can understand this because as there were the 'Rare Trading' hype around in this timeframe.
Nevertheless, I do understand and support your request at least to a certain degree. In a first step to overcome this it would be nice if you can
store the ship at a station without emptying the cargo racks before. This would already help. As a goodie transfer between owned ships at the
station has some appeal and there are to be some other possibilities to limit exploiting behaviour.
