General cargo storage

When i want to buy my second ship, I cannot - coz i have 28 tonnes of rare goods in the storage of my current ship, that i'm waiting to deliver to a certain party.
I can only afford ships that are too small to hold the cargo.

I would like to be able to store cargo - and recall it to another ship - locally or at another dock for a price.
Some cargo could be perishable - some cargo illegal etc. Cargo to be transported by other player couriers or npc.

Just a thought.

Please tell us what Rare goods you have? Question why can't you turn in this cargo in first and then buy a new ship?

The problem I see with Storage is. Gold sellers, Groups of players using to flood the market.

What some people don't understand is sometimes selling or dropping something even at a loss is part of the gameplay.

What some people don't understand is not everyone wants to play the way they do, their enjoyment might differ somehow, and flooding the market is such a stupid insipid argument it's laughable :ROFLMAO::LOL::ROFLMAO: (Tazer face... ahahahahaha! ahahahahaha!) yeah it's that funny.

So
Yeah,
Here here, lets have some form of storage for cargo, after all I have fantasy pants with magic bag pockets where I can store hundreds/thousands of kilos materials (mats) for engineering my ship, why not have a cargo space for stuff that you're saving up for your favourite station commander the other side of the galaxy (well a different bubble anyway) it's about time guys forget all this sell it or you're not playing properly, it storage time.

I'm not even speculating in markets - perhaps ED is not for me.

I was carrying 24T of Lavian Brandy, It was for a community goal, so i had to keep it.

Can you Post a picture of the Community goal please. So people who are out in the deep like me can see it.

Ok the Community Goal is less than 5 LY away from Lave which is where you get Lavian Brandy. Let ask you again why do you need storage again? It is one jump away to drop Lavian Brandy off at the Community goal. So why do you need to Keep if you are already so close to Community Goal?

DRINK!.......
Bar Tender can I have a drink please this is getting so ridiculous. 🤣

I bought it early - the goal was not up yet, so it could not be delivered - only sold.
I didn't want to sell it - then it would not count towards the goal, that was not there yet - only on a webpage.
I didn't want to sell it in Lave either - then i might not be able to buy it again later - somone might beat me to it, and i would not get the reward. I could have taken it on a cruise for the 5-6 hours - but i was afraid i would lose it. Storing was my only option i think.

So you had 24T of Lavian Brandy you paid for at 3,400 each and you want to store it. You could have flown 160 Ly and sold it and made a profit or sold it as a loss. Just like if a pirate takes it from you. It is part of the gameplay. Sometimes you have to make choices. Sometimes losing 81,000 credit hurts. Woopie I lost over 100 Million credits. But Elite Dangerous it is easy to make money if you use your head. So 81,000 credit loss if not a big deal. But in this case, you had a choice. You could have made a whole lot more.

See you would have to deal with the same dilemma even while playing the community goal after selling the Lavian Brandy so where the problem?

I regret to say that even though I think we should have storage, this is precisely the point that Frontier denied it for -- saving up cargo for a community goal.

There is a case for arguing that temporary storage while we buy a new ship might be acceptable, but there are a lot of bugs that might be possible there. You buy the new ship and put 100 tonnes in storage, then you don't put 100 tonnes of capacity on the new ship. Where does the cargo go? What if you have 50 tonnes of rares and 50 tonnes of biowaste, which one goes into your new ship? If you sell it automatically or manually then you have to stitch the market code into the outfitting code. The whole thing is a programming nightmare

I don't really think that the saving up for the CG argument works either, after all there's a 'plethora' (it means lots*) of ways players can make 100mph (millions per hour) and talk of how to make billions per session, and, I'm sure that there could be limits on 'rare' and exclusion of 'toxic' goods from any station, and deeper thought could introduce an 'insurance' or service charge (one that works like reality 10% up front... another discussion)
There are 'special things' that some, (but definitely not Lestat) like to keep for 'having them' purposes, or because a small trade is precisely one that you need to see a clean profit on... it doesn't matter about the overall target of 'loads-a-money' it's a happiness point... a satisfaction of having done the right thing in the purchase, getting things right releases endorphins in some people and 'llestat' has absolutely not right to demand the intricate details of any other player... only to throw those details back in the face for a purpose of ridicule and belittlement of another player, he should be ashamed of himself.

Here the thing. I wanted to know why people think it important to have storage. What we found from the OP wanted a game where you do not have to think on the fly. That the thing with Elite Dangerous sometimes you are forced into making choices and sometimes they are not choices you do not like. That is part of the gameplay. He paid for Lavian Brandy. With a decent jump range, he could have sold it for a pretty good price same with other types of goods.

This matter can be solved with personal carriers, but this need still few months (and no further postponing). From what was shown, they may be designed such way already.
This can also be solved with basic common sense.
