I am stealing this idea from a friend who I wing up with now and then, we were discussing the role of cargo ships on TS and he had the idea of having missions that would be available only to ships of the Type 6 7 and 9 class. A sort of bulky cargo mission as you will that would represent the bulky nature of these ships and their dedicated cargo role. Think ISO containers in space. There would be no need for the back and forth between cargo ship pilots and cutter and corvette pilots over who should be able to carry more cargo as the Type X ships would have their own missions available from time to time in stations.
The drone suggestion came about after I heard rumours of repair drones, some people call for extra ammunition storage. I suggest ammunition drone controllers. Drones that can restock other ships in wings. If you had a 4 ship wing taking part in a combat role you could have three combat ships and a mothership with fuel, repair and ammunition drones keeping the rest of the wing in the fight. No more travelling back to a station to rearm/repair, your mothership will do it all for you.
