Carnival games, arcades, halls of mirrors, bandshells, etc

I just downloaded a ton of reference photos for an old and beloved park I'm going to try to recreate, and it reminded me that PC doesn't have any filler "carnival stuff" -- you know, booths where you squirt water guns and try to win giant stuffed animals, those ridiculous "claw" machines where you try to grab prizes, arcades, "test your strength" hammer-things, shooting galleries, hall of mirrors, etc.

Those things would make fantastic extra scenery props, add to ride value, and even contribute toward the demographic you're courting. For example, you could make your park's midway "date night" friendly with things like "test your strength' and "hall of mirrors," a bandshell with concerts, photo booths and more.

Thank god, I'm not the only one who notice that! Game booth are a huge part of every theme park for me and I was wondering why they don't put it in the game. With all the creation and personalisation, everyone could have his own kind of booth plus the customers could spend money and have fun in the same time, it's a win-win :)

nope, nobody has ever though of this one before
actually since this post just came in, memos have been sent out to the devs alerting them all of this great new idea and they have altered all priorities to focus on this one [wink]

No need to be sarcastic, dude. [happy] This is a suggestions forum. FWIW I did look back a few pages and didn't see anything about this.

Now we can make some of this stuff ourselves, the main problems is that the game doesn't really give us the option to work on such a small scale when it comes to custom scenery and buildings, and of course there's no current way for us to get visitors to interact with them. I do realize that implementing something like this would require more work than it might seem at first -- the devs would have to create some new animations for guests using arcade machines, hammering buttons, aiming water pistols, swinging a hammer, whatever.

But this game is so ambitious, and so fantastic with customization options, that it doesn't seem out of reach. I mean, even a few templates for games -- which we can then customize just like we do with shops and food stalls -- would open up a ton of possibilities. Also, the game includes wooden coasters, and a LOT of those classic theme parks that feature wooden coasters also have those old amusements.

For example, I live just a few miles from Playland, a historic park built in the 1920s. The park itself was built in an Art Deco style, with a huge midway running through the park, and it's also home to the historic Dragon Coaster. Anyone who is a roller coaster enthusiast has seen that thing -- it's a functioning piece of history. But that park is also filled with things like cotton candy vendors, carnival games, shooting galleries, even a game where you race remote-controlled boats on a miniature lake.

For an old amusement park like that, the games and cheesy stuff are part of the appeal and a big part of the nostalgic value. I have fond memories of going there as a kid, and having recently returned to take my niece there, it was like visiting the past.
