Carrier Jumps over Time and offline

It would be nice to give the Carrier a Target System and the Carrier will fly to the Target System over Time, if Player is offline!
Its super boring to fly to Colonia manually with a Carrier.

It would be nice to give the FC a target system, even if I have to push the button for every jump.
FC navigation is bad ! ! !

Of course it's bad, have you seen the control panel?

Given that it would appear that you are the “owner” of the carrier and part of the upkeep is a crew that it’s assumed to come with navigation personnel, a captain, flight operations, helm, communications, etc etc… Just for perspective, a modern carrier of today in the United States Navy typically has a compliment of about 5000 or so. It would stand to reason that as the owner you should be able direct your carrier crew to perform any number of tasks. But these guys won’t even move goods from cargo like tritium to fuel depot.

now…. I’m sure this was considered… and I can go straight to the reason it was rejected. Run away carriers going out into the black. Players walking away from game during a jump, only to come back a few hours later to discover they were left behind by their mobile credit black hole and they are sitting in a thrift corvette without a fuel scoop and have zero chance of catching up to the carrier. The carrier functions and current game play is “mostly” polished…. But an auto jump feature could go catastrophically wrong.

It could. Sometimes.
But what we have know is catastrophically bad. All the time.

Should the owner be able to set a schedule (and cyclic route) then?

Maybe not for everyone, but it would be fun if there was some gameplay involved, so that once in a while owner (and FC passengers) have something apart from looking at the counter and waiting for arrival. Some breakdowns in the middle of the route which would require to perform a mission or two to fix it, pirate attacks, navigation issues, encountering space anomalies, crew riots and other random events.

Let's first get it working, then we can worry about how to fcek it up make it more interesting.

I wouldn't mind it. For me it's like ~10jumps max anyway before the FC runs out of Tritium. Especially when trying to get to a place 30+ FC jumps away, "playing" Elite usually boils down to having the game run while doing other stuff. I try to get back to the PC every 20 minutes or so to initiate the next jump, but man, that's awkward and annoying.

There might be issues when you try to jump into a system that's full (e.g. a CG or engineer system) and the jump sequence cannot start. But seriously, if you're stupid enough to plot a route through/to such a system it's your own fault for not getting there 🤷‍♂️

[ sarcasm] I don't want to jump anymore. I want a Spore drive, like in Star Trek Discovery, and jump immediately to Beagle Point. [/sarcasm]

I know jumping with my carrier is time consuming.

I am tired of paying the FC crew to twiddle their thumbs!
Freeloaders!
Parasites!

Rather than the introduction of ways to plot multi-jump routes, or the ability to transfer Tritium over from storage, I would love to have an airlock that I can use to space the crew, in a some form of reverse "Employee of the month" display!

Right now, when I change my Officers, that's how I envision it. No retirement, or change of careers, no moving forwards: just an airlock!

I get the impression that FD's intentions for us is to actually play ED and not let it play by itself when we're not online.

At least you can let your carrier jump, when you are NOT on board.
I'm also asking myself, why I'm paying for those crew members.

Even the guy in the tower, who welcomes everyone in range doesn't seems to know my name and obviosly has no idea who I am.
I don't get any special landing pad and no special "Welcome home Captain! Good to have you back on board, oh we have so much to tell you, we have discovered hundrets of new worlds and we filled up the cargo halls with good, fresh Tritium!"
The get so much money, they even forget to hold my ship in the same hanger I parked it before the jump. They just put me in a random hanger, when we get out of the portal. Maybe this is some kind of FSD side effect...

Because using spansh to set a target system, copy the name of that system, clicking a button and waiting for 20 minutes is playing?

Yeap
Especially if i'm already in the destination system doing other stuff

Sure, if you want to stay on the Carrier's bridge for 20 minute, you definitely can

Yes!! This!! I'm not a visitor....I'm the owner!!!! Tower person speaks to me like I'm just some hauler (which I am I guess).

I pass the time between jumps by using my Ithacan Scout - build here - to scout the local area and then scurrying back to carrier before missing my ride. I channel my inner Battlestar Galactica Raptor pilot...
