Carriers called: Buying Platinum 230k

Recently descovered these babies hanging around a double platinum hotpost we were mining.
Really handy and I think a great example of a lite, player driven economy.

BUT

It's a proper PITA when you land and they don't want to buy anything - cheeky gets!

Perhaps the CMDR ran out of credits.. Or the Fleet carrier to be correct. And remember.. No sale tax @ fleet carriers

Sometimes I sell my platinum at 200K. I set the price when I log-off and it's all gone when I log back on. It would be great if that 250k buying carrier parked next to me. It would make somebody very happy. With 300 billion already, money and profit doesn't really bother me. I can fill up my Cutter with 512T of platinum in 2 hours, so even at 200k a ton, that's still 50 million an hour or 200 mil per night.

It's a real shame that you don't get to see or communicate with the guys that trade on your carrier.

Quite agree.
Would be totally disingenuous to suggest that it's almost like they make money from you visiting with re-arm and re-fuel surcharges? ;)

More carrier information in system would be most welcome (imho), best you can do atm is make a note of the good ones.
I think the fleet carriers owners club may have a dog in this fight (?)

(For myself, I just use my own carrier and restrict landing privilege's to avoid disappointment.)

I do use my carrier sometimes like you described and I get the frustration. FDev doesnt allow buy orders above 2bil so around 8700t at 230k. Thats quite a lot but I had it several times that people sold several thousand of tons while I was offline so it can happen that I log off with a buy order of 5k and that gets fulfilled in a couple hours, but I cant login for another couple hours (Sleep/Work/School/IRL).

Like Michael said, it would be nice to get more info to be available before one lands.

Odd, i accidently left a sell order open for 24 hours for bare minimum amount for platinum, was transferring to other account to sell.. there was 900 tons of it and NOBODY BOUGHT ANY.

Chances are that the buy order was fulfilled however, the owner probably hadn't checked and renamed the carrier yet.
