Carrying (potentially) illegal goods to a port where they are legal.

Hi

I currently have 2 trade routes which I am dabbling with.

one makes slightly more profit per minute (30k per min as opposed to 25k per min iirc - though exact numbers from memory do not hold me to it!) however it involves flying 1200LS to a port where imperial slaves are legal, in a system with 6 other ports where they are illegal.

Because this is a mixed faction system, am i only likely to get scanned when I approach an area of space surrounding the faction space station, or am I risking getting fined for carrying illegal goods, even if I have no intention of selling illegally?

if so, it may not be worth the risk of the extra money (I imagine 260 tones of illegal goods could be quite the fine!)

thanks

M.

If you have illegal goods in your hold and scanned in a system where they are illegal, you will be fined.
If you have illegal goods and fly into a system where they are not illegal, you should be fine AFAIK.

If you have 260 tons of illegal goods and scanned, the fine is gonna be pretty high especially if they are high value items >.<

You won't be fined for the slaves when you're in the immediate space around the station where they're legal.
Around the other six stations, or in supercruise between them, then the goods will be contraband and you can be fined.

See the "Illicit Cargo" bit in my sig? If that's anywhere on your HUD, then you're at risk from fines.
It's the risk that makes smuggling exciting - if you can turn over a profit from it too, all the better! :D

thanks guys... its as i suspected.

I think for now i will play it safe and come back to the higher risk run when i have a little more of a credit buffer :)

I've got a question regarding illegal goods too:
If "slaves" are prohibited in a station are "imperial slaves" legal? Does it have to say "imperial slaves" prohibited too or does "slaves" include both?
Thanks in advance! ;)

No......... slaves and imperial slaves are totally unrelated commodities. (a bit like tobacco is a drug and beer is a drug but in some systems, 1, both or neither may be legal.
