General / Off-Topic Catchpa to log in to the store

Is the catchpa really necessary every time we log into the Frontier Store? I can understand the need for it when registering a new account, but every time we log in? What's the bloody password for?

If it really is absolutely necessary, please come up with something more friendly thant the obscure jumbled text one we've got right now. My eyes aren't what they were and I guarantee I'll hit refresh twenty times before deciding on one to actually respond to (whether I need to or not, in the hope that refresh attempts are logged somewhere).

It's not an online banking service, it's an online store for a video game. I don't know if it's possible to store your payment details on this site but I'd be mad to want to anyway - that's what PayPal is for (interestingly, neither Paypal or my bank see the need to torture me every time I log in, so one has to question if this is actually a valid security check).

Seriously, if you want people to buy your silly little nameplates and tatoos, you need to make it easy for them or they won't bother. (yes, I know this post isn't directly addressing FD but allow me the word "you" in the name of artistic licence or something)

Rant over. Discuss ;)

I agree with you Rojo, often get the damn thing wrong due to my failing eyesight these days, so have to keep trying to enter the right letters. Hope FD can come up with something better or I will never get to be a Reaver.

The catchpa at the Frontier Store needs to be toned down a bit. I find myself cycling it for new ones because the text is so obfuscated.

Talking about store? Can we pay with our Phone, with the good old SMS Mode, in case of smaller transactions, (max 10-20 font?)

Took me about four tries, I was actually expecting it to time out for a while to stop any more attempts. Someone needs to write a bot to help with these things. :D

Yes Capcha sucks.

They could look at using a different system of course.

Like the "spot the pizza in the pictures" thing.

Suggest it in the Suggestion thread!

I quite like the captcha, it's like a game, you get the whole family gathered round trying to figure out what the heck it's supposed to say....

"Is that a capital C??"
"No, no it's definitely a £ sign...."
"Wait, is that an umlaut.. how do I type that?"
"Do i need to type the &??"
"Æ... what the hell is this thing???"
"No dear, that's an upsidedown b"
".... Why are we doing this anyway?"
"I want to buy some facial tattoos for my commander"
"You're 39 years old!"
"But, but i want them.."
"Oh ¶@#* off..."
"But they look really cool!"
I'm leaving you...

So it really is a lot like the game, where a simple thing escalates into trying to salvage what you can.

I hope they at least participate in the Captcha AI overlord development.

Anyway, I stay logged in, so I only have to deal with it once a month after my usual cookie cleanup.

I use Vivaldi browser. It does it automatically when I select the "Remember login credentials" pop-up.
Nope. No pop-up :(

Nice looking browser though. gonna have a play with it - getting tired of Firefox.

UPDATE - Ah, the "Do you want to save this password" prompt that was there when I went back after posting this :D

Yes, that seems to work. Wonder why Firefox has stopped asking me on this site.

Very fast browser though. Rep for pointing me to it.
