Caught in a Mission Failure Loop

I'll try to explain as simply as possible: 1. I took a mission. 2. I went to planet. 3. In exit in srv, then dismiss ship. 4. During mission my srv was destroyed. 5. I then have to respawn, and also rebuy my ship that was dismissed (rebuy 1).
Then: 1. Mission has failed, I continue playing the game after rebuy, and quite some time after the failure and rebuy, i've done several system jumps, but on one jump my game crashed. 2. I could not log back in for some time, due to the error regarding inability to connect to servers. 3. When I finally reconnected, the game pops up the SAME previously-failed mission screen, and AGAIN charges me another 34million rebuy. 4. I submit a ticket. 5. I leave the game for a bit, then log back in. 7. AGAIN the gamed pops up the mission failure screen for the SAME original mission i've now paid twice already for a rebuy for. THIS TIME, however, I didn't have the money to pay for a 3rd rebuy, so now it wants me to sell one of my other ships, to pay a THRID TIME for a mission I only failed ONCE. Not only have I already paid twice, but am expected to p[ay a third time, for the same original failure, but now i'm apparently stuck in the loop of Mission Failure, that repeatedly wants me to pay for a rebuy, and I can't this time.
Seriously, i'm afraid to launch the game a this point. Not only am I stuck in another failure of the same mission, for a third time, without the means to rebuy a third time, but it seriously seems that this will continue due to some "loop" considering it has already happened twice after the initial mission failure.
I already submitted a ticket, then updated it when I realized the 3rd "failure" was being shown, and I didn't have the cash for a 3rd rebuy, but I thought the incident should be noted on the forums as well.

THIS GAME IS UNPLAYABLE for me now right now.
EVERY TIME I leave the game, and come back in, I am put back into the mission failure screen, and being asked to re-buy a ship that was dismissed from the planet's surface, AND one i've now re-bought 3 times.
1. Land on planet dismiss ship, get killed in srv.
2. mission failed, I re-buy (re-buy dismissed ship, & destroyed srv).
3. I jump a few systems after re-buy, and game crashes.
4. I log back in to the same mission failure screen, and have to re-buy a 2nd time.
5. I log out of game later, and log back in, and another mission failure screen for a 3rd re-buy.
6. I don't have the cash for the 3rd re-buy, so I sell a ship.
7. I jump a few systems, and land on a station.
8. I access station services, and do what I need to do.
9. I log out of game, and log back in to test if the issue is resolved.
10. AGAIN the SAME mission failure screen pops up, and again I am asked to re-buy my ship, for the same original mission failed long ago.
11. CURRENT End result - 1st re-buy 34mil + 2nd re-buy 34mil + 3rd re-buy sold ship for 74mil to pay another 34mil + now sitting at same "failed mission" screen being requested to pay a 4th re-buy of 34mil.
This is Repeatable...and occurs every time I leave the game so far.
Sure could use some help on this one...
Edited to fix a spelling issue...

Update: I saw there was an "Upgrade" (patch).
I downloaded. I entered game. SAME "Mission Failure" screen pops up, requesting me to pay a 4th time for a ship Re-Buy for the same original mission failed, that the game continues to think i've failed every time I log off and back on.
In other words: The Patch didn't fix my current issue, from what I see.

Update: Another "Upgrade" (patch) (2nd one) - Downloaded. Installed. Log into game...game still tells me I died again. Game still requests I pay a 4th time, for a re-buy for a ship that was dismissed form the surface during a mission I died in my srv during, & failed long ago.
Considering i've already paid 34mil (1st re-buy) + 34mil (2nd re-buy) + 74mil (sold a ship to afford 3rd re-buy of 34mil) + now being asked to pay a 4th re-buy of 34 mil, it is obvious this will continue, every time I log off the game, and back on. As such, i'm just waiting for Support to get back to me (only been about 2 days since reporting), before I pay a 4th time (34mil re-buy) just to log off and then probably have a 5th screen telling me I died, and requesting another re-buy (5th).

Have you tried starting Elite Dangerous instead of Odyssey or Horizons?

I got stuck in a CTD loop and launching ED, then selecting the Recover to Orbit option got me out of it.

No, i've tried Horizons, and Odyssey. Either of which tells me, for a 4th time, to re-buy my ship for 34million, that i've already spent 34million + 34million+ 74million(had to sell a ship to pay the 3rd 34million). Honestly, i'm not doing anything else. As it stands now, i'm out 34+34+74, and being told to pay another +34million. As it stands now, EVERY Time I am disconnected, then log back in, the game tells me i've died again, apparently due to the same original mission that I died from the first time. I'm logically afraid to even try anything else, even 4th re-buy, even knowing ED could reimburse me the money,. because who knows what else would be broken, & why would I not think that the disconnect/reconnect would not cause the same repeatable issue (4 times now) of the game telling me I magically died again. I have come to the conclusion that the game is broken for me, and I paid for the "opportunity" to repeatedly pay 34million for each re-connect. I'm just leaving it as is, and hoping that since it has only been almost 48hrs since I reported my issue, that FDev gets back to me, pulls me out of the "loop" of death i'm currently in, and reimburses me for the 2/3 re-buys, or 3/4 if I have to pay the 4th one currently being requested of me when I log in. I appreciate the suggestion, but this doesn't seem like something that is solved by a log into the original game, as it would seem the game just constantly thinks i've died every time I log out/then, and that seems to me to be something deeper and not in my power to fix in that manner. Considering I am unsure what else I might "break" in this new release, i'd probably be better off just waiting...unfortunately.

Sounds like you need FD Support to dig you out of this one!

Seriously though, you shouldn't be paying ANY ship rebuys at all. Your SRV was destroyed but that's all. You should have respawned in your ship in orbit after your SRV was destroyed. At no point from your description was the ship destroyed? Something seriously screwy has happened to your game files...

That was EXACTLY my thought..."How am I paying for a SHIP re-0buy, for a ship that was DISMISSED, & when I died in an SRV?" Also, I agree again...I NEED FDev to "dig" me out. No, the ship was dismissed. Long gone, I proceeded to the mission objective, the base, to kill some people for the mission. At No Point was my ship even present during the destruction of my SRV, and neither was my ship At Any Point destroyed, as it had long been dismissed. All I did was install the Odyssey release, play the game, take a mission, go there, land, disembark in srv, then dismiss ship, then die a while later in srv. Then i'm charged 34+34+74+ still requesting me to pay a 4th 34million when I try to play each time, so I just simply log off, and update my ticket, and update this forum thread, then play something else, before i'm completely broke, and losing a fully engineered ship. Even after 2 different patches of the past couple days...same result, I log in, staring at a screen wanting a 4th re-buy. If something happened to my game files on client side, then it was due to their release, as i've certainly done nothing other than download as they demand, install as they demand, and play. Like i said...i'll just wait...and hope they finally get back to me through my ticket, and fix the issue.

All I did was install the Odyssey release....
Ah! I think we have got to the root of the problem... You installed EDO... A beta product that is likely to screw up everything from your next laundry load to your car MOT...

OPTION A : wait for Support to get around to your support ticket in a week or so...
OPTION B : play another game in the mean time...
OPTION C : You could try uninstalling beta EDO and see if that fixes the problem... Although I suspect that by this point you'll just end up updating the support ticket again.

I provided options to help you feel in control and reduce your stress level a little ok
🙂

lol...just lol

Call me a glutton for punishment, or someone that just wants to play the game. I chose to TRY one more time, and pay the 4th re-buy.
Tried again: Logged in...paid the 4th Re-Deploy of 34million. Made 5 jumps to my carrier. Landed. Withdrew money, just in case it did it again. Logged out to main menu, logged back in to solo. Game pops up a 5th "You must re-buy because you died" screen.
At this point I have paid 34 mil 1st re-buy + 34 mil second re-buy + 74 mil sold ship for 3rd re-buy + 34 mil 4th re-buy + looking at a screen requesting a 5th re-buy.
Ticket submitted about 2 3/4 days ago. Ya, I know...just stop playing. But I had to test if perhaps something had been fixed. In any case, yes i'm done. Ill just wait, and if they get back to me, and fix the issue i'll update here. Until then...off to other games. Good luck to the rest of you.
End result: 34+34+74+34 & being requested to pay another 34 mil.
This time I recorded my "death in space" adventure" for anyone interested. YouTube Vid Link Here:
Source: https://youtu.be/TLumF1_qyTY
(IF I can even post links here, if it doesn't show in the comment, i'll gladly send the YouTube Vid link to anyone interested) - Feel free to skip through the 5 jumps to get to my carrier, but watch the beginning where i'm logging in to pay a 4th time for my ship, and the end where I log out, then back in, to be requested to pay a 5th time for my ship. I captured all of it, so you (anyone interested), and FDev, can see a complete episode of what is occurring repeatedly. Also, a full explanation is available under the video, if you need all details in a complete single format.

Really s*itty bug :( I would also try to kill myself in a low costs ship and hope it overwrites the buyback costs or dead loop, but I would definitely demand all that money back.
Oh, I have already requested all of my money back. However, i'm not touching the game again until FDev decides they can actually fix the issue. I had a different issue years ago, though it was also due to a bug, and lost a ship, and couldn't buy it back. FDev told me "Sorry, we can reimburse for the money, but any engineering, or mats for engineering, or engineered modules...you're S.O.L." So, since my current ship is very decently engineered, and since I don't want to lose MORE money, or an engineered ship, mats, time, etc., i'm done with the game. I reported it at 01:30 Central U.S. time, 2021 May 20. As of today, i've not heard anything back. I also saw another person whom had opened a ticket/bug report for the same issue, who also had another person mentioning the same issue tacked on to the 1st person's report, so I also filed my issue there.
Regarding the cheap ship, to take me out of the loop, I have come to the conclusion I should probably just leave the game alone until they actually fix the issue. I also have huge doubt as to whether switching to another ship would have any effect on the outcome, since it repeatedly does it when I log out then in, regardless of where I am logging out, Space, Carrier, Station, Etc. So, i'll just hope FDev is actually going to 1. Respond. 2. Fix the Issue. 3. Reimburse for losses not our (Anyone experiencing the same issue) cause. Other than that, I 100% also agree with your comment "Really s'itty bug..." - Fact.

Update: I think it's been at least a week, with no response. As a matter of act, I logged in to see my reported issues, and unless i'm mistaken, it is no longer even on the list. I see 0 reported issues in my account. So, either i'm looking in the wrong place (though I only have ONE account to that site), or it was deleted, or it is lost in cyberspace somewhere. Still just waiting...
Edited to Add:
Edit 1.A. - Downloaded and installed latest "upgrade" (patch) today 2021 May 27. Logged in, same issue.
Edit 1.B. - Also the server finally showed my "open" ticket regarding the issue. It must have had some delays.

I solved the same problem to go to Horizons and pay the rebuy there. Then the failure loop stopped.
I tried that. When I logged out, then back in,. whether Base Game, Horizons, or Odyssey, the same "you died...re-buy" screen popped up again. I'm seeing a bunch of people mentioning this online, regarding dying in the SRV, then the issue occurring. Seems the main common denominator is "dying in the srv." Though, that could just be a coincidence, not actually indicating the actual bug causing the issue. I've already re-bought 4 tx 34.? million. I think i'll wait, and let them try to fix it, and get back to me through my ticket, so i'm not completely poor, since it seems to be something out of my control, and something seriously needing addressed, to ensure it doesn't keep happening to people. I wish that had worked. Suggestion was worth mentioning anyway, so thanks.

Update: I submitted my ticket, requesting assistance, and reimbursement of lost funds due to the game bug described in previous posts (Dead at every log-in, & forced to re-buy a ship that was never even destroyed, only my SRV was) on the 2021 May 20th. When I submitted it, the warning read "...up to 5 days" regarding response time. Then at about the 9 day mark, I saw it had changed to "...up to 7 days." It has now been almost 14 days, and I still haven't received any response. I'm assuming they are going to change it to "...up to 14 days in a couple days. Just an update, for whatever it's worth.

Update: 18 days & ?? hours in total, and I received a reply. The reply stated that the person set me to "Alive," then also reimbursed my lost money.
Well, not exactly. I logged in, and YES, at that point I was "alive," and the game stopped requesting me to re-buy a ship that was NEVER destroyed in the first place.
However, I paid 34mil+34mil+34mil+34mil = 136mil during the Death Loop bug. I see MAYBE 5 million has been given back to me.
This is the second time i've lost money in this game due to their bugs, and the second time I received a response of "we reimbursed you," only to log in and see NO, they did NOT. As such, I reply, and explain the discrepancy between 136mil, & MAYBE 5 mil, and request the amount due, that was lost due to their bug. I'm assuming it will be another 18 days to get a reply, but in any case, i'll update a final disposition here...if or when it occurs. Maybe it's just me, but 18 days for a response, is patient. Waiting 18 days only to get a response that does not ring "true" when I actually log in, nor addresses the actual loss (game funds, not even counting the loss in time to play a game I paid real world money for, nor aggravation/inconvenience) is more than frustrating, it's just horrible. You may disagree, but we will definitely agree-to-disagree on opinions if you do. , FDev...
