Celestial object scan value

Does anyone know how much scannable objects are worth? Is there a table or something that will show the value of different scannable objects in the game? I'd like to know what's worth going after and not bothering with the low value stuff. Thanks

Yes, there are people who know. I'm not one of them but I have seen a breakdown somewhere... try the exploration subforum?

In the meantime, HMC, TWW, WW, ELW are your best bet. You can sort of a identify most of them from looking at the system map after your first system scan, then do a level 3 with you DSS.

as of 2.3...

That said, Exploration forum is your best bet for up to date data.

As a rough guide;

First rate: Earth-like worlds
Second rate: Water worlds, Ammonia worlds, Terraformable worlds of any kind
Third rate stuff: Metal-rich worlds, Class II Gas Giants, stellar remnants

A really big, terraform able water world may rarely be worth more than an Earth-like world, but generally speaking Earth-like worlds are worth the most.

An Earth-like world and a terraformable water world of the same mass will be worth the same - barring the complication of the terraformable bonus multiplier which is (probably, as far as we know, I think) always 1 for the ELW and can be less for a WW.

For seeking valuable stuff a WW in the hab-zone is as worth scanning as an ELW every time. WW farther out less so.

Cool, thanks MattG - I had taken my eye off the values and didn't realise that things were so precisely known now, that's great stuff - I'll see if I can come up with anything with respect to the bonus.

I like to rank them like this:

  • Earth-like worlds, and terraformable Water Worlds.
  • Ammonia Worlds, and terraformable "High Metal Content" worlds.
  • Non-terraformable Water Worlds, and terraformable Rocky Bodies.
  • Black Holes, Neutron Stars, "Metal Rich" bodies, and Class-II Gas Giants.
  • White Dwarfs, and non-terraformable High Metal Content worlds.
  • Everything else (stars, ice worlds, other gas giants, and non-terraformable rocky bodies).

And here's another good infographic, based on the holograms:
