CG Mission reward Abrasion Blasters supplied *damaged*

Hey all,

Not a problem, just a curiosity...

I docked at Rhea's Resilience to cash in the CG. As usual, I docked, and repaired fully - spanner then Advanced Maintennace. I then Complete the CG then transfered the two pre-engineered Abrasion Blasters to my ship. Nothing unusual there.

I exit the UI, ready to launch and notice that the little spanner Icon is highlighted, telling me that I have damage that can be repaired. However, I FULLY repaired when I docked, so this is odd. I go in to advanced maintenance to review things and notice that both of those Abrasion Blasters are DAMAGED. Why? Some clumsy employee dropping them during delivery? A sub-par mechanic bodging the install? Something happened...

Anyway, look, they've only taken 1% damage, basically nothing. 20cr to fix both of them from the ship menu (the little spanner icon when docked) but only TWO credits from within Advanced Maintenance. Two weird things, first the damaged modules then the repair cost discrepancy for those modules depending where you select the repair from... I did the 2cr repair and the spanner (20cr) icon is now greyed out.

Again, this is not a problem-causing issue, but it's certainly a bit odd. That 10x repair cost depending where you click repair from is perhaps more worrying...

You got the two units that overloaded during testing and had to be quickly fixed before they could pass them on to somebody. (Stability improvements to the engineering modification may or may not be included) Some minor damage and scorch marks remained at that point so they just passed it on to you. You made lots of millions in the mining rush anyway so you won't notice (the words of probably some executive, not mine).

Jokes aside... this kind of reminds me of that bug where, sometimes, you'll disembark on a station and when you get back on your ship from whatever you were doing, yiu have an extremely inconsequential 10-100cr repair bill waiting. Even though your ship is/was sitting safely in a hangar with nothing possibly capable of damaging it there.

There are several hypotheses about what is happening.

I heard that the blasters being delivered were recovered from debris fields.

Regarding the difference in repair cost, this is because they are made by different teams of mechanics. The Advanced Maintenance team personnel lowered the repair cost because they seem to be seeking more clients. However, I am making a complaint here: they are offering the repair for $2 but are actually charging $20. As most commanders do not check the invoice, this is going unpunished.

It's possible the blasters were dropped before being fitted. However this is (sadly) a bug where telling the game to repair your ship, and you hear the little repair noises that are adorable, but you are not actually repaired and it was all a lie.

Your blasters are fine. It's fun to imagine, tho.

Felicia Winters thanks you for your contribution to the CG and suggests that you think carefully about your decision to use an Imperial ship next time.

My secret hope is that it is a teaser for the new unknown feature, which will be the ability to remove the size 1 weapons from the hardpoints, and use them as blunt weapons in on foot CZs. 🤞🤞🤞
Brings a whole new meaning to fire all weapons. 😄
