Do you think there will be ever another CG on Galnet which allows players to purchase Imperial Ships without ranks? I was reading about an event which occurred sometime in 2015 and I was just wondering if there would be another sometime in the near future?

If I recall corretct there have been two occasions when people could buy imperial Ships without rank, but it was never because of a CG but because of something with the Emperor. So for another such event your best bet would be something to celebrated related to ALD, maybe she can make a child? People love royal Babies.

Princess In Alien Baby Scandal
Her Serene Highness Princess Aisling Duval's press office announced today that Her Serene Highness is expecting her first baby. The child, conceived through artificial insemination and genetic manipulation is due to be born on or around the 30th June. Celebrations are already in hand with royal commentators describing the event as momentous as the Coronation of Emperor Arissa Lavigny-Duval and preparations are being made on Capitol for the accommodating of the vast crowds experienced in previous royal occasions.
In separate news, the Gynecologist who oversaw the artificial insemination, Professor Euan Burncap, was arrested after it was found that a number of samples in his laboratory had been contaminated with alien DNA extracted from Unknown Artifacts. Palace officials were unable to confirm whether the child carried by Princess Aisling Duval contains this contaminated DNA, however our sources inside the laboratory confirm the procedure was affected.
At the time of his arrest, Professor Burncap declared that "humanity needs to embrace the true origins of the Universe and that Thargoids are peaceful people with a longer heritage than humans and we could learn from their accomplishments".

Does that mean that imperial ships may not require ranks for a certain period of time or is this irrelevant.
I bought an Imperial Clipper in Oct 2015, without rank.

There's been at least 2 before. .... about time they did one for the Fed ships (not that i need it personally) ... although, given rank = ships = only reason to rank .... removing that barrier is kinda rendering ranking even more futile.
I'd be more inclined to wish for a Federal one. I don't want to lower myself to grinding federal ranks, but I do want to mess about on one of your assault ships.

They were both CGs and related to big stories. I took part in the CG to present slaves to her highness the Emperor to celebrate her coronation which unlocked the ships for everyone the last time.
To the OP I doubt you'll see one any time soon but the ranks really aren't that hard to get. As an Imperial citizen I was able to buy a Clipper after a few weeks running missions as part of my normal gameplay; just make sure you only run them for Imperial factions. Or read the various fast ranking strategy threads, there are quicker ways if you don't mind grinding.
Go to 17 Draconis and donate credits. Should get your ranking up pretty fast if you only want an Assault Ship. Now a Corvette will take a while longer.
It made little sense to me back then, and it still makes little sense. But as a Fed player I welcomed the courier, eagle and clipper into the collection all the same.

I didn't lift a finger for the last one and bought a clipper for 15.1 MCr no rank.
Slave blood is hard to wash off, the co-pilot's seat has a tattoo on the leather, and one of my buddies found a slave tooth bracelet in the glovebox when he bought from Leroy Rui's used ship lot in Arjung.
Use it for mining.
Really must take a full load of biowaste to dump in Archenar to say thanks to momcorp.

Just to rub it in, I have Prince rank but no interest in buying a Clipper or Cutter. I bought the Courier due to nostalgia.
A royal wedding would be a good excuse for the next imperial rank-free sale. But I hope they don't ever sell the iCutter without rank - though if they do, I'll be near the front of the queue.
