CG's and Power Play

Am I the only one that has noticed that since Power Play has stared the participation in the CG's have dropped? I am at 20 Ophiuchi doing the Bounty Hunting CG. There is only 229 participants, with 3 days left to complete it and not even at tier 1 yet. Is everyone so intent on grinding out rep for power play that they don't do CG's any more? Maybe FD needs to work the CG's into the PP goals.

Bounty hunting CG? In this system?
I always do pew pew CGs but "tonnes collected" ... meh, I want to hire a NPC for that worthless and boring task, this is under my value. Trading aka hauling is something for an autopilot, NPC or anything automated as it has 0 risk and is repetetive.
But again: I always try to sign up for pew pew CGs.

If you go to Chargaff Port and check the BB, there is a CG for protecting the ships bringing in the supplies. I just head out to a Nav point and kill pirates Them turn in the bounties at Chargaff Port.

Yes this is a real problem.

My conspiracy theory is that its intentional. - if CGs were as good as they were prior to 1.3 everybody would be doing them and PP would not get the participation it needs.

As it stands they are pants.

It seems as it stands right now, why bother with CG's if the participation is so low in the that you don't even make it to Tier 1 to qualify for any bonuses. So Cmdrs like me that are opting out of PP (there is now way I have that much time to devote to it to make it worth it) are out of luck. Also from what I have heard from fellow Squadron mates, the bonus items you get in PP are not worth the time spent grinding out rep.

I guess it will change a bit because people are leaving PP.
However I am one that left Elite shortly before the CG and rejoined with PP therefore I have no clue about this CG. I guess that there are others eighter New Player that started with PP and dont know CG or old players that left before CG.

So in short what is this CG good for? Is there any benefit to it? I am less interested in personel gain but in shapeing the galaxy.
All I read once is that it's big grind that leads no where?
