CGs should start Friday night or Saturday morning

I haven't played ED in awhile, so I fired it up this weekend (when most working folk play games) in hopes to participate in the latest CG. I was surprised to learn that the CG is already over. So ten minutes later, I exit the game, disappointed. Looks like I'm going back to playing Space Engineers!

It is poor management to start a CG at the beginning or in the middle of the week, especially if the target is so low that the CG will end before the weekend when most people are available to play. This is not the first time, mind you. The fix is simple - have CGs start on Friday night or Saturday morning (perhaps at 0:00 game time), allowing everyone to at least contribute something to the CG before it's over. This is especially important for CGs tied to Interstellar Initiatives, as these tend to be bigger game-changing events than the old CGs.

So much for a fun weekend COMMUNITY event. I guess CGs are only for retired old people who have all week long to play the game.... :(

(Yes, I'm feeling salty)

Done and done, playing Space Engineers once again :D
Yeah... Honestly I want to keep playing but ED has me a bit depressed right now. It's hard to get my excitement up with ED. Everything has become so routine. Maybe some VR or role-playing will help with my ED experience. Some CMDRs say that alcohol or drugs can help with ED problems too. Maybe that will help get my interest back up.

Perhaps a better answer would be to cap individual contributions towards event completion but still reward contributions over the soft cap?

Or perhaps allow CG contributions to continue for the entire week with the result being locked once the threshold is reached and further contributions only affecting personal reward level.

Overall though, it does not matter when they start - there will inevitably be some that will feel put out for one reason or another.

Ideally we'd have them start at all sorts of different times in the week, since that way everyone, no matter when their shifts fall, gets a fair shot at a bunch of them.

Thats a good idea.

Or not have the “first past the post” target which can mean the event is over before its scheduled end time.

@Old Duck , yep, totally agree! I was disappointed and a bit salty too. Tell me more about this “Space Engineers” of which you speak...

Setting off CGs of at midnight on a Saturday...

I don't know about most people here, but Friday night tends to be the time I have one or two alcoholic beverages. I imagine a few of the Frontier staff might do the same thing.

I don't think this is a good physical state to be in if something goes wrong and they need to be on hand to fix it.

Same here. And we're probably not the only ones.
I think the problem isn't when the cg starts, but rather that they sometimes set the target too low.
And sometimes they set the target "too high" and people complain that it only reaches Tier 3 and the CG bonus payout is tiny. :)

(Personally I prefer the ones like station repairs or Colonia engineers where there isn't a strict time limit in the first place)

The same thing happened with the thargoid incursions. I'd get a couple of days of good pewpew if I was off during the week then on saturday and sunday the systems would be cleared.
