CH Pro Pedals - Help with installation

Hi all.

I bought some CH Pedals recently and have had a hard time getting them to work.

They're the Gameport version and my computer has no gameports to plug it into.

I have a couple of USB adapters which I've tried to setup to my computer but when I plug them in they install the adapter driver but in the 'test' area of the properties in 'setup USB game controllers' none of my input is shown on screen.

I've seen conversion methods to get it into the modern era by swapping the gameport for USB.

I don't have any of the tools required nor the confidence to do it myself so after a chat with my local PC store (good blokes, know their stuff) they say the cost would come up to about the same as just buying a USB one.

Before I stick these up on eBay and give them up do you have any suggestions to save these pedals? I'd rather just get these to work.

The pedals are just 3 potentiometers and no frills, so if you're moderately adventurous you should be able to just wire those straight into any USB gameport converter that happens to be supported by Windows versions this side of the Millennium, you just need to bypass any electronics that may be in there already.

I've bought an adapter and now the toe pedals 'work'. As in they show input on the test screen but not in the usual sense.

This is what I see when I look on the test area. No input as of right now. When I press the right toe pedal down the Axes box will move the X upward (50% toe pedal = middle, 100% toe pedal = top). When I press the left toe pedal it will move to the left, but as the X is already in the middle of the box it only goes to the left once - even when pushing the pedal 100%. Pushing the rudder pedals forwards has no input.
