CH Pro Throttle issue

Hello everyone,

I have a CH Pro Throttle to go with my CH joystick. Recently I've noticed an annoying little issue. I run with a throttle config that is forward only, and sometimes when I put the throttle to zero, it goes low, and then starts climbing again even though I've not moved the throttle. this gets alarming when I'm trying to DSS a planet ;) I'm now at the point where I have to stick it back to zero a couple of times and watch the ship speed before I can trust it, but this sounds like something isn't quite right. Any tips?

Cheers
David

Chances are the throttle potentiometer is either dirty or worn, or one or more of the wire clips going to it have come loose.

You could recalibrate the throttle axis in the CH software to make sure the utilized range ends before the maximum point the axis will reach on it's own, but it would probably be better to open the unit, clean the pot and resecure the wires to it.

Worst case scenario you have to replace the pot, which isn't a big deal because they cost about five dollars each.

Edit: It's also possible the wire bundle that goes into the PCB in the unit's grip has come out of the clip that it's normally secured to and is catching or bunching up, moving the throttle or the armature it uses to connect to the pot. This should also be easy to resecure if you open the unit.

Plenty of tear down guides out there and the internals are quite simple.
