Challenge mode vs Career mode?

I'm trying to find out what the difference will be?

I was captivated by the recent Gamescon coverage of PC, they talked about scenarios for one of the modes which i'm not as interested in, i'm curious if the other mode is more of a management free world type gig where you buy land, build a park and make money and then can buy more land elsewhere in the world and basically make more parks?

I searched the forums and really couldn't find a whole lot on the modes, can anyone point me in the right direction?

From my understanding career mode will be similar to other games with scenarios with goals to complete. The challenge mode will be open for you to do what you want... however, you will start will limited funds, and I presume rides and attractions. The aim will be to build up your park, how you want, and make it successful. I am looking forward to this mode the most [happy]

Right now sandbox and challenge are the same thing except one has money. I hope that challenge mode has more to it, like actual challenges, but I dont know how a challenge would differ from an objective? Im hoping career mode has "on-going" objectives or like a roll-over money feature for all your parks.

If you have ever played RCT3 it should be like that.

Career mode is the actual game outside of sandbox. In RCT3 there were a set number of parks to build with different objectives. For example you might need to get 1000 peeps into you park to get the gold medal. Or you might need to build a park with a certain no of rides. There were also scenarios where you would need to get a park out of financial trouble for examples.

Challenge mode is just basic sim mode, you get some money and you build a park.

if thats true, then why not just make money an option for sandbox mode? challenge mode should be more different than that
Personally, when I think of sandbox mode with money, I think of unlocking everything from the start while still having money to spend on stuff, as apposed to challenge mode, which would only start you with a handful of resources to build your park, and you get more via researching and such while you still have to manage your money and such.

it still feels like the "scenario editor" from rct3, and I hope it has some "challenges" to it. career mode should be much more complex thoough. if challenge mode is simply "sandbox with research and money" then it should just be an option within the sandbox mode

Challenge mode as I understand it when it is finished, is that you are given a certain amount of starting funds and have to make a successful park or fail. As it says when you first open the game and hover your mouse over the challenge icon, "You'll need to manage your money to succeed in this work-in-progress mode." This to me means that there is going to be more than what we are seeing here.

Challenge mode needs to be more challenging. You rake in $$$ with just a few stalls and rides. Put in fast pass and you'll never really have to care about money anymore.

I'd love to see a difficulty level where guests are harder to please and things are more expensive, especially scenery pieces.

Challenge me!

I think that is why it says, "You'll need to manage your money to succeed in this work-in-progress mode". Meaning it isn't finished.

I'm kinda hoping that one mode is slightly like RCT3 but a bit more than just get x amount of guests etc. But general scenarios, maybe slightly already started, you have to manage money slightly to increase a parks ratings/guests. Not too difficult and open to a little bit more freedom but with an end goal in mind.

And I'm hoping challenge mode is, well more of a challenge - eg get this fairytale themed park , only allowed to use fairytale objects, to x rating, with x amount of guests, overall x guest happiness, 2 coasters with an excitement rating of x, scenery rating of x, starting with low funds and have to really push every £ out of you're guests by truly making everything as appealing as you can by adding just the right amount of scenery and shops around rides. Aka it won't work just allow for throwing down 10 thrill rides, setting a price that matches the excitement rating and speeding the game up a few days like I did in pretty much every rct 3 scenario :p

Long story short -
scenario mode with started parks, some freedom to do what you want but to hit a couple of goals
Challenge mode - fresh park, limited what you can use (theme, scenery, rides, not able to change terrain on a very hilly landscape) with multiple goals to achieve while really having to micro manage to generate enough funds to make the park succeed.

Thanks for the replies guys, sounds like there's still a lot TBD. I'm personally hoping for an Empire building aspect, looks like i'll have to wait and see.

I love the idea of an Empire building aspect, real 'career' mode.

Didn't the original Theme Park have that (almost), where you could sell your Park and buy a new piece of land somewhere else in the world?
