Change behavior of mass slider in galaxy map to current jump range percentage

Hi!

As of today when calculating a route players can change theoretical mass of the ship in order to reduce/adjust jump range.
That works fine as long the ship isn't fully loaded and want to travel somewhere a bit more away. Also for the sake of bigger haul the player decided to drop fuel scoop.
Then the player can only use the economical route planner which is a little bit too economical :) or try and filter out some start to increase number of jumps.
But if the slider would work in percentage of current jump range, then calculating a route for the journey to arrive there without the need to scoop but with the minimal amount of jumps needed for it!
Eureka! :D And all miners and future CG haulers could fly longer distances without the need to scoop (more cargo) and without the need to stop on the way and refuel.

Please Frontier add this adjustment into FC beta!

Yours sincerly
The Miner

I would prefer to have the slider adjust the maximum jump in light years and/or a box to type in the value and when pressing enter the value is used to move the slider. There are reasons to prefer to set a precise light-year maximum.

Except that's not the purpose of the slider and that's not what it does, it doesn't adjust the theoretical mass of the ship, it adjust the theoretical mass of the cargo, which isn't part of the ship.

so how does that change anything but the label?

the cargo mass slider has very limited use cases in its current setup. It cant account for fuel weight, it cant be used on ships without cargo racks. Having a jump range limiter independent of cargo space would have a much greater utility than the current implementation.

It tells you the jump range when fully laden, it can mean the difference between reaching a destination or being given a "route plotting failed" message when planning your trading. So you do your research, find a good market for the cargo and plot a route, fill your T9 up with goodies with the intention of carrying them to a location where there is a good price, exit the station, and find your plotted route fails because you originally plotted it with an empty cargo hold. So before plotting you push the slider up to the top to make sure you can get there with a full hold. That's its only purpose.

so we just need a checkbox next to the slider that links its usable range to the corresponding cargo space/tonnage

or we add a separate slider altogether, one for cargo as is. another that sets a limit on max fuel used per jump, up to the FSD's limit.

another that sets a limit on max fuel used per jump, up to the FSD's limit.
Arguably this would be much more useful than a cargo slider as it would cater to a larger audience. There is a very wide gap between "as few jumps as possible" and "as many jumps as possible". Something like "use 50% of max fuel per jump" would significantly increase the effective range of any ship without scooping or jumping 2 ly at a time.

Wow, I really wish this had been tackled already.
It has been annoying me for a while that I didn't know how to dial back the max fuel usage other than that slider, which of course only works when you have empty cargo bays as noted above. So... I googled to find the answer, and seems like it's truly not possible? o_O
+1 for sure.

You can only try and fiddle with system filters and for now a semi-solution is:
Disable FSD Booster, plot fastest route, enable FSD Booster, somewhere in 2/3 of the journey replot with FSD booster on.
