Change Commander Name on XBOX1 ?

Aaah- I didn't know that. I thought it was possible on the PC (I think I even did that in one of the earlier PC version for backers) - However, I haven't tried since as my PC is pretty crap, and can't really handle the game.

So would that mean, that if I switch my Gamer tag, I would have to start from scratch again?

On pc your commanders name is tied to the account name you created with Frontier this is unchangeable unless you start a whole new commander/account, i am a backer since day one and we sadly never had the option to change this, this is how the xbox works as well, though i don't have a link i have seen this question before. Some folks, ( understandably ) do not like there gamertag, at least for a game like this, all i can say is when i created my gamertag 10 years ago i used one that made since for me, one i use on every game on pc as well, which will be interesting because my commander name for pc/mac/xbox are all the same.

They could make something like in Elder Scrolls Online where it show character name and Gamertag.
