Is it possible to change your CMDR name folks? My son in his haste entered the name incorrectly at set up but I'd like to change it.

Start a new game.
Not without deleting the character and making a new one, no.
I know that there's other things to work on, but it would be nice if this was a buyable service in the store. Maybe £5 to change a Commander name. Not too expensive to stop anyone wanting to do it, but enough to make it not worth doing every week.

Try this link, I remember we were allowed to change our cmdr name because I changed mine, that was a couple of months ago so maybe it still works.
Anyway the link above should take you to account support where it mentions changing your commander name.
edit:Ok just checked out the link it only suggests what other have said here - Clear Save and loose your current progress, shame really.

No it says this now:
"Yes, you are able to change your Commander name yourself!
There is one way to change your commander name - you will need to reset your game, so please make sure you’re happy with your choice before you go amassing an in-game empire.
To reset your game, go to the Main Menu -> Options and 'Clear Save' will be available.
WARNING: Selecting this will delete all in-game progress.
Once you have done this, the Create New Player screen will appear and you will be able to choose a new name."
Great thanks cmdr lowest, I will do as you describe…struggling to amass any real credits so time for a name change or a regeneration if you like!

I'm starting to think a new name would be nice but with a commander I've stuck to since release it would mean doing a lot of stuff all over again.
Also I wonder how much of the game functions actually "bind to" commander names (?). I would guess most references are to some unique id number or similar instead.
Not that FD will implement a way of selecting a new name just because it's possible, but it would be nice to know if we _may_ be able to get something like that in the future.
