[CHANGE] Squadron Leaderboard Ranking - Powerplay ranks restricted to squadrons linked to a power

Dear All,

Situation:
My group applied back in 2017 for a PMF in a LYR system with Federation allegiance (cause the controlling faction was a Fed corporation). Cause we are powerplayers pledged to LYR.
Hence we applied as Fed corporation and were placed as such in the game this year in April. All fine.

With squadrons implementation main trigger for power alignment of a squadron now is the superpower allegiance. Hence Li Yong-Rui would require Independent but we are Federation and could only choose Winters or Hudson - which we didn't as we play for LYR. So we are without power alignment even though we play for one.


The new squadrons contain the feature of leaderboard ranking which I like cause it provides some kind of friendly competition.
However - in the powerplay ranks our squadron doesn't show up. Despite the fact we are delivering thousands of merits week by week.

I assumed a bug or intention and placed a ticket asking whether that's an error or by intention.

Hi CMDR,

Thanks for getting in touch regarding your Squadron Powerplay issues.

So, we believe the way it works is that your contributions only count towards the Powerplay leader the Squadron is aligned with. Thus, if your squadron is not aligned with a power, your merit contributions will not count towards the Leaderboards.

You mentioned not being a fan of that decision it it was the case, and that is okay! But, we'd really like it if you gave us some constructive feedback on this issue!

Proposal:
Either
Change powerplay leaderboard ranking logic to allow contributions of all squadron CMDRs being pledged to a power being counted
Or
Take away the superpower allegiance restriction for squadrons allowing them to align with any power despite of squadron's superpower.

Justification:
Leaderboard ranking is a means to allow comparison of the squadron's performance compared to other player groups.
All activities carried out by CMDRs should be considered hence if CMDRs are pledged to a power/to several powers and deliver merits that should be counted for the squadron ranking in the powerplay section.
Regardless of whether the squadron is aligned to a power or not.

We might argue that in case players are pledged to different powers it would become ambiguous however current leaderboard ranking is saying powerplay only and not powerplay sorted by power.
Which might be a future refinement showing contributions and ranks per power.

If I've understood correctly the issue is that your Power is LYR but your PMF is Federation? Although Powers' strong government setup for control systems is unfortunately problematic, hence the Ethos override that was proposed, I regrettably have to disagree with the proposal as LYR has always been Independent and this was known when your PMF was created and applied for. Sorry.

EDIT: Okay this is a problem as it applies to government types whereby there isn't a government type that is also aligned to the Superpower. Making the PMF selection independent of the Squadron's Superpower alignment may work to resolve the issue even though it would create anomalies such as an Imperial Squadron being able to support a Federation PMF but that's how FDev designed Powerplay to work.
