It's a bummer. I know I'm missing biological sites because they're hidden behind interminable scans for geologicals.
I don't want to lift the FPS cap to speed it up, because I don't really want the irritating noise, wasteful power consumption, and high wear-and-tear factor of my graphics card and CPU running full bifta, 100% of the time, for hours on end.
It would be nice if it showed the types of signals detected while it was crunching the numbers. I know there are edge cases where a planet with volcanism doesn't have any active sites, but a Geological: 0 would be less irritating than this.
Alternatively, they could give us the option to unlock the frame cap during the FSS screen only.
Or better yet, unlink this process from framerate altogether (though I appreciate that might be a fairly big ask).
EDIT: And while we're at it, can we get that "Adaptive Zoom Failed" (or whatever it says when I miss the planet by two pixels when clicking through bodies on the FSS) to !&#$ right off as soon as the planet information screen actually opens. It persists for several seconds, and hides the bloody signal sources, forcing you to sit and wait for it to clear, which adds a further annoyance if you're quickly clicking through the bodies looking for signals.
