Changeable sizes

With the infos we have so far, the possibilities of choosing patterns and colours for our dinosaurs sounds realy nice and there will be much more different individuals than in the first game.

What we saw till now from the different field guides etc. each species have exatly the same size. Will there be a way to change the sizes ab little bit? Like a genome ore something.
The Animals in PZ have their own bar for the size and something like that would improve the variaty a lot. (No extreme differences like 50% or so. just ab bit 3/6/9% something like that.

With such a feature we could write our own storys with juvenile/adults and maybe stop messing you up with the baby-thematik ;)

Or is is not possible because it is in conflict with the Hunting/Fighting system? Sure with changes in sizes their could be a bit more clipping issues.

Thanks for your interest

Baby and Juveniles should have just basic behaviour and animations, juvenile carnvivores will hunt only small animals. Without the need for so much complexity for them, only adults will be more complex in variety of animations, whether in combat or behavior

So I support your idea

A difference in size in adults of 2% to 3%, maybe 4%, I think is satisfactory

should just be a think over in the right direction.
The more i think about a baby system, the less i want it somehow. Sounds strange but let me ask you an question:
Do you want the same breeding system like PZ? This could be a thing frontier eventually could bring the same feature in JWE.
But it is just bad. Baby spawn, have 1-2 animations and 10mins later it is adult.
Real talk.... this is not the system we want. We want babys that grown in realtime. From a hatchling to an adult in a few ingame years would be the real ;)
So let's hope they implement a optimized breeding-system in JWE3.

I understand you and I agree with you on this interpretation, it is obvious that younger dinosaurs should not be too simple, but they are not as complex as adults. A balance is needed. Growth time should not be too short or too long for gameplay issues. 1 hour would be acceptable to me, but it's obvious that this may be different

Actually I think it would be good for the dinosaurs to hatch out about 15-20% below their species max size. To represent young adults - then as the dinosaurs age they get a little large each (year) - until the reach their maximum size.

For example have a newly hatched T.rex be about 11.3-11.6 meters long (representing a 18 year old ) - then grow to about 13.5 meters long (size of Rexy in Fallen Kingdom - representing a 35-40 year old). Keep in mind that Rexy/Reberta grow about 2.5 meters between the original JP and JW Fallen Kingdom which took place about 25 years apart.

If there is no complete breeding system, why release a young adult in the hatchery? It wouldn't make any sense. If the intention is to make a younger animal, then the best would be to include (baby/juvenile/adult keeping)

Adults of different size are not needed, Although it is an interesting idea

The size variations of adults is consistent with the JP/JW series - The T.rex of JP 3, which lost to the Spinosaurus was a young adult. As I stated Rexy in JP was about 2-2.5 meters shorter than she was in JW/JW: FK. So the size variations would be another way to tell the age of a dinosaur.

In addition - if breeding does become an option (think Chaos Theory Mode). It could also be useful.

"The size variations of adults is consistent with the JP/JW" True, but that wouldn't change the gameplay itself, and imagine balancing dinosaurs considering the specific size of each adult individual... for gameplay reasons I do not know if it would be the best choice... but the idea is good, at least i liked it

It may or may not. Likely won't at the start of the game - as they have stated that there is no breeding in the game. But it could still be an early planned "fix" for one of the first couple of DLCs.

I know that in the original novel/movie & in Lost World - Chaos Theory was used to explain why the dinosaurs in the park were breeding.

I would love to see this mechanic in sandbox mode too

Pretty sure the explanation for breeding was humans arrogantly believing they knew all the variables and had control of everything, combined with the unpredictability of cloning animals using random bits of DNA resulting in the unforeseen ability to breed... chaos theory had nothing to do with it... it was just an easy way of saying expect the unexpected and nobody has control of everything...
