General Gameplay Changing base game campaign mode 5 star rating

So in the past year we had a lot added to the game in terms of gameplay like challenge mode, sand box and random dig sites for challenge mode with probably more changes and additions to come. I was thinking that since the main goal of challenge mode is to 5 star your island by having the highest dino rating and facility rating I was thinking we could change the way we get a 5 star rating for the campaign islands.

The missions and everything would be the same but the difference would be instead of just spamming dinos and hotels like you would in challenge mode you would have clear goals for each star. Here is a really basic example for isla pena:

Dino Rating:

first star - Complete genome for t-rex
second star - Get a t-rex to over 30 combat victories
third star - have at least 30 predators and 15 herbivores
fourth star - Keep the following in the same enclosure 3 camarasuars, 5 Dilophosaurs, 3 ankylosaurs
fifth star - contain the following 1 giga, 1 Trex, 1 Spinosaurus

Facility rating:

first star - place two lengths of large fancy path
second star - place the following 2 bars, 2 restaurants, 1 arcade, 1 bowling alley
third star - have monorail go at least 5 lengths
fourth star - Make an enclosure for Trex with at least 4 viewing galleries attached
fifth star - place two hotels within proximity to trex enclosure

The idea is that you would have to build each map a certain way instead of just spamming things like you would in challenge mode and makes both game modes different. There are so many assets you never have to use in this game because regardless of gametype (campaign, challenge) there is only one optimal way to play. Im pretty sure the claire dearing dlc kind of has these features already so why not fix the base campaign as well?

Making the game more challenging. Some of these are mundane but i get the idea.

Yeah its a very basic example but the point is to have actual objectives you need to maintain as opposed to just raising numbers because i'm not going to like the current system we have just isnt fun and it kind of forces you to play the same way for every island.

They give us dinos on certain islands that we never use because we end up making space for our favorites or for dinos that are just going to get the job done (spamming diplos for big points). Then you have all of these buildings you never use because you are better off spamming just gift shops and fast food joints and you only use them right by your hotels and nowhere else because thats optimal with the current mechanics.

Thats a fair assessment. That is exactly what i have been doing. Just spamming dinos with huge populations. Carnivores are rare in my park.

Yeah I know some people will use ceratosaurs in a sauropod enclosure and maybe metricanthosaurs elsewhere but for the most part I can guarantee no one ever uses small carnivores or the other big types when trying to 5star islands, or at least for challenge mode. Some of the campaign missions require you to use predators but a lot of the times you end up getting rid of them as soon as the mission is over.

I do agree that the current park rating mechanic is busted. Like you alluded to, all you have to do is build multiple enclosures each containing 8 Diplodocus and 16 Troodons and you're set. On top of that, I've found that you only need one viewing gallery in your entire park (at least in challenge mode).

However, I feel as if you're idea would be a bit limiting. I'd feel restricted if I was required to showcase a dinosaur I don't want. This is supposed to be a sandbox game after all. I believe a better way to approach this issue would be to implement mechanics like these:

1. A dinosaur's rating will be drastically lowered if they are not visible (solves the issue of only needing one viewing gallery)
2. Having the same dinosaur in multiple enclosures will cause that dinosaur's rating to experience diminishing returns. For example, if the player has one enclosure containing Brachi's with 140 rating each, but builds a second enclosure with more Brachi's, the rating of every Brachi in the park will drop to, say, 130.
3. The game will keep track of the dinosaurs that the player has used on previous islands. If the player decides to incubate a dinosaur on Muerta but they already have that dinosaur on Mantanceros, then the mechanic from #2 will take effect.

The same thing goes for buildings. There should be some sort of diminishing return if you litter your park with clothing shops and restaurants.

This should be a given. Each island should have something new to show otherwise why would anyone visit matanceros as opposed to tacano if they have the same exact dinos?

It would also be awesome if each park could have a focus like pena being for thrill seekers so it showcases a lot of buffed up dinos that fight each other and where as matanceros could be more family friendly. If they added more buildings you could take this further and have buildings that cater to certain people as well.

Hmm im not sure i like number 3. I think that would make it a little too obnoxious in the diminishing returns.

Well maybe instead of having diminishing returns they could have a something like "have X amount of unique species for herbivores/carnivores". That way you are encouraged for using different types of dinos for each island but not hurt if you want or need to use a dino you already have showcased on a previous island.
