Changing outfits in flight

@Arthur Tolmie

Every time I watch Arthur doing a live session on the twitch chanell, and watch him run around to get to a terminal to change loadout before he leaves - I want to shout at the screen :

'You can change loadout in flight - even in an Apex shuttle'.

I wonder if there is an immersion/personal reason why he doesn't do this.

On any reasonable length journey you even have time to create a brand new loadout.

The only annoying this is that a jump to supercruise will interrupt the loadout management screens.

But it's so much easier changing clothes on the concourse of a station than in a taxi, as I've learnt to my cost.

You ever changed your clothes in a car? Worse, a bulky (in comparison) space suit?
not really a good comparison - have you changed clothes in an open concourse in front of a bar ?

If we had to physically actually change suits (instead of just clicking a menu) then there would be dedicated changing rooms etc. The point is the game does some hand waving on many things - changing the suit is just one of them.

He only plays the game when he has to. It's clear he doesn't really like it and has never played "for real." It's just a job to him, hence his lack of knowledge and general surly behavior.

I mean, I only change my suit when I am landed and in my ship.

I have the ultra-rare ability to make concessions to how I play the game in such a way that it feels more "realistic" and "immersive" to me.

Probably why I draw so well. I have a good imagination; a gateway to great things, I must add.

OP, what does it matter? It's not stopping you from playing "efficiently", (cringe), so what does it matter?

It doesn't matter - I am simply curious as it seems to be his immediate reaction - 'hang on while i change my suit' ....

I would disagree with that - from my perspective he enjoys playing and engaging with the community. He doesn't have the in-depth knowledge that some players have, but that doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy it. I love the game, but there is a long list of things i am awful at.
I have never seen him come across as surly.

no - just wondered why he does it - it seem so much simpler in the ship, and each time he does it it seems like he doesn't realise the ship isn't an option.
Perhaps it's become a habit? As humans we tend to like being habitual. I suspect it started at the station because he knew you could only create suit loadouts there, whereas you can't create them in the ship.

but you can create them in the ship - and have been able to do so since Alpha - you go to Manage Loadouts (next to the big Disembark button).
But I agree things can become a habit :)

You can? Ì'll have to look at that again when I'm playing EDO next.

I just remembered that initially in the alpha, you could not change suits in the station (had to be done in the taxi, could create loadouts anywhere though). It may be that Arf initially demonstrated that you could change in the station (after a certain patch), and then got into the habit (along with that glitch reinforcing the habit).
