channel issues in group

Does anyone know what issue this is and how to fix?

I joined a private group I can type in local , but when I go into system , it just shows 'You are not subscribed to any channels in this group'

and of course I cannot type in any text.

something to do with the text settings perhapse ie tabbed hidden main etc
works fine for me in open maybe its something to do with the private group owners settings
or worst case scenario if upnp not enabled or alternative ports not forwarded possibly
if it works in open that should at least tell you its not your end
